In Loving Memory of Kenneth Anthony Garcia

With the deepest sorrow, we announce that Kenneth Anthony Garcia, our most beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed suddenly on June 7, 2020.

Kenneth was born in Trinidad, Colorado, on August 25, 1948, to Evangeline T. Alarid Garcia. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Lucille “Blu” Garcia; his youngest brother, Michael Zuniga; and his beloved dog, Angel.

Kenneth is survived by his mother; siblings David F. Garcia, Sally M.(Jerry) Cecil, Patricia Garcia and Ursula Velarde; daughter Gina Mantelli (Greg Rivas); son Bryan Mantelli (Shelley Cusimano); grandchildren John Trujillo, Skylar Trujillo, Aiden Rivas, Alex Mantelli, and Sophia Mantelli; and sisters-in-law Rose (Nini) Rosales and Marian Ortiz. Kenneth was blessed with bonus children and grandchildren including daughters Lori Babineaux, Christina (Tony) Archuleta and Melanie (Mark) Claflin, and grandchildren Cami Babineaux, Tyler Sanchez, Justice Archuleta, Janae Archuleta, Jaida Archuleta, Joey Archuleta, Jussaiah Archuleta, Audrey Claflin, Aimee Claflin, and Alexis Claflin. He is lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kenneth grew up in Trinidad where he attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Trinidad Catholic High School. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. During his military tour, he was wounded and held as a prisoner of war. He was one of the many unfortunate heroes who suffered from Agent Orange. Kenneth was decorated with a Purple Heart, four Bronze Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Combat Action Ribbon, and Marksman Qualification Badge.

Kenneth will be sorely missed by all, and especially by his”furever” companion Sophie! Kenneth brightened the day with his infectious smile, quick wit and humor, and deeply caring heart.

Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at 1 pm at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by US Marine Honor Guard.
