William F. Doerr, age 72, beloved son, brother, uncle, and dear friend was born on April 13, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, and was called home on April 28, 2020. William is preceded in death by his father William F. Doerr and mother Shirley Doerr. William is survived by his sister Barbara, husband Rick of Watsonville, CA, niece Sonny and grandniece Anaiya, his sister Linda, husband Ted Branson, nephew Austin, niece Ivory, grandniece Savannah Rose of Austin, Texas, and his dear friend Patricia Quezada of Wagon Mound, NM. Billy loved hiking and camping. His father William was a Boy Scout leader and William became an Eagle Scout. He also loved to go deep-sea fishing with his dad. Billy graduated JFK High School in Iselin, New Jersey, and was immediately drafted into the army. He spent 1967/68 in Vietnam; he was shot twice in the line of duty, which earned him two purple hearts, a silver star, and a bronze star. After the army, he worked as a warehouse Manager at Napa Auto Parts in Edison, New Jersey. In1976 his sister Linda moved to Cimarron New Mexico. William did not want his sister driving. alone and joined her on the trip. Once he arrived to Cimarron, New Mexico, he fell in love with it and in 1977 he moved to Cimarron, NM. William worked for several years on the Chase ranch. In 1982 he also worked on the UU Bar ranch. William later found himself on the CS ranch where he worked until his passing. He was a treasured friend to many. William loved children and took many under his wing to teach them good days work and life lessons. William was also a substitute teacher at Cimarron High School and loved every minute. The kids thought a lot of him and he treasured them His dad was a Newark, New Jersey firefighter for 25 years and William fell into his footsteps becoming a volunteer firefighter in Cimarron where he volunteered for 40 years. One of his highlights was driving the fire truck in the town parade on the Fourth of July. William loved his home in Miami, NM, and took pride in caring for it and his four stray cats. William enjoyed planning vacation trips to his beloved Vietnam, where he visited a few years back. William will be missed by many.
