Angie Guerra was a life-long resident of the Raton area. She was born and raised on the Guerra ranch near Yankee. She had a life-long love of the land, the animals they raised, and the wildlife. She loved it when they were able to coax a good crop out of the land. She felt that farming and ranching life was one of the best kinds of life to live.
Therefore, the purpose of this scholarship is to help young people in their education in ways that will benefit the farming and ranching lifestyle or will benefit wildlife and nature in general, along with benefitting the people involved in these things.
The Angie Guerra Scholarship is offered to any current graduating Raton High School senior or a Raton High school graduate who is currently attending college and is working toward a degree in a field related to ranching, agriculture, biology, or other animal science degrees related to livestock and/or wildlife. An applicant may receive up to $10,000.00 per year. The committee may award multiple scholarships not to exceed $10,000.00.
Any interested RHS graduate is encouraged to call Kathy Honeyfield at 575-445-8145 or send an email to kathy_950@hotmail.com to receive an application. The deadline is June 1, 2020.
