John “Stephen” White age 53 of Raton, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, in Raton. He was born July 15, 1966, in Trinidad, Colorado the son of Bob and Sandy White. Stephen was a Signal Maintainer for the Railroad for 28 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen, Raton Country Club, and the Raton Elks Lodge.
Stephen was an avid skier with Taos Ski Valley being his most favorite. He skied every season, he was known to go alone or with several friends. Stephen enjoyed riding his motorcycle, which included going to Red River and Sturgis with his closest friends. He also enjoyed playing golf (he wasn’t really good at it). One of his favorite past times was to just be at his home surrounded by those closest to him. Stephen was always the life of the party always laughing and joking. His smile was one you will never forget.
He is survived by his long time companion Joana Apodaca of Raton. Aesyn Apodaca, whom he loved as a son of Raton, his parents Bob and Sandy White of KY. Sister Regina Martinez of Denver, CO, two brothers, Eric White and wife Tammy of KY, and Raymond White of Angular, CO. Numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by several friends who he called family and their children lovingly referred to him as Uncle Steve.
He was preceded in death by one of his very best friends, Wayne Mueller of Oklahoma City, OK.
