Sugarite Canyon State Park superintendent Robert McIvor with a park update. With only 2 staff members on duty, we are working hard to get things ready for the summer season. Lake Alice campground is getting a little facelift. We are clearing old dead brush, grasses, and debris to help reduce the fuel load in that area. We hope to be able to resurface L. Alice campground campsites and roadway soon. We are also pulling ditches, blading Soda Pocket road, repainting some signs, clearing dead blown down trees on the trails and servicing vehicles and equipment. L.Maloya has been stocked several times since ice-out, so the fishing will be outstanding once the park reopens. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the local residents during this stressful time. Everyone is following the closure rules for the park and this makes our job so much easier. If anyone has any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at 575-445-5607.
Take care
Mac
