In Loving Memory of Anthony Ray Marquez

Anthony Ray Marquez went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2020 at his home in Albuquerque, NM, surrounded by his loving family by his side at 2:30 A.M. Anthony was born in Raton, NM on February 9, 1952 to Doris Marquez who precede him in death, also preceding him in death is a sister Anita Louise Marquez and brother Danny Prado, uncle Roger Marquez and nephew Roby Montoya and many other loved ones who were waiting for him a he enter the gates of Heaven.
Anthony was a member of St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where he was Baptized, Confirmed and made his First Holy Communion and was one of the first Altar Boys at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s. Anthony was a graduate of the class of 1970 of Raton High School. After High School Anthony went to work for Floyd Cornish Construction and Western Hollow Metal. He then moved to Albuquerque, NM., where he drove for Budweiser and Swift Trucking Companies. He drove for Greyhound Bus Lines and he also drove for Herrera Coaches where he took many tourist and sports teams all over the country.
Anthony was a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle father and Godfather to many and a loving husband to his wife Paula. Anthony is survived by his wife Paula Marquez of the family home, his children Anita and husband Billy Mallory, Salomon and wife Chiara Marquez of Raton, NM., Antone and wife Erica, Matthew and wife Evangeline Marquez and Josephine Zemke all of Albuquerque, NM. Stepchildren. Efren Ramirez, Bryan and wife Nicole Perchez, Lexi and Natalie Perchez, Robert and wife Theresa from Albuquerque, NM. Anthony is also survived by sisters Dolores Madrid oaf Albuquerque, NM., Barbara Whitten of Raton, NM. Brothers Leonard “Bobo” Marquez of Winslow, AZ., Richard and wife Irene Marquez of Raton, NM. and Frank Marquez of Cortez, CO. Anthony is also survived by his uncle Ernie and wife Dodi Marquez of San Leandro CA., and aunt Delfina Saldivar of Post, TX. Anthony was also survived by numerous grandchildren: Ramon, Christian, Jonathan, Faith “Carrots”, Madison, Anthony, Joseph, Isaac, Trevor, Jacob, Ariona, Felicia, Salo John, Auncia, Cherish, Ava’Lynn, Grandpas special baby boy Reyes, Santiago and baby Ay’zia Jane Marquez who was born five days after grandpa Anthony entered into Heaven. Anthony, Nica, angelica, River, Jeremiah, Aaliyah, Victoria, Micah, Mia, Kayla, Savannah, Nathan, Jenna and Cassidy. Great-grandchildren: Jaylynn, Karma, Tesla, Mordecia, Azariah, Ezrakai, Brittany, Lil Joe, Aliyah, Amiyah, Tiberius, Xariah and Ariana. Anthony is also survived by his Father-in-law Johnny Ramirez, Mother-in-law Mary Helen Salas, sister-in-law Lorraine and brother-in-law Christopher Caldwell. Anthony is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews along with many many friends.
Anthony enjoyed fishing, but horse racing was his passion, he always said the racing form was his bible, he sure was good at winning the races, he often went with his friend Max Benavidez who also preceded him in death. Anthony and his wife Paula loved to go dancing and going to the movies, he loved his cat Mr. Crawley. Anthony will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements for Anthony Ray Marquez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
