In Loving Memory of Audrey Eugene Vasquez (“Gene”)

Audrey Eugene Vasquez (“Gene”), age 63, a long-term resident of Trinidad, was called home to the Lord on March 5th, 2020.

Gene was born in June 1956 to Tony and Mary (Taylor) Vasquez in Trinidad. Gene graduated from Hoehne High School and attended TSJC. Gene worked with the city of Trinidad for 38 years, including three years in animal control and 35 years as a power plant engineer. Gene was a kind, gentle soul who loved his many nieces and nephews as his own. He found joy in finding the latest, greatest gadgets and taking care of his family. Gene was an avid painter, was a life-long wrestling fan, loved tending his yard and garden, cooked many wonderful meals, enjoyed scratch tickets and slot machines and had many fun adventures in Las Vegas and Cripple Creek.

Gene was preceded in death by parents Tony and Mary (Taylor) Vasquez, brothers Anthony and Edward Vasquez, and sister Andrea Josephine (Vasquez) Garduno.

Gene is survived by sister Mary Fierro, brothers Michael D. Vasquez and Jose Vasquez, and brother-in-law Charles Garduno, all of Trinidad, aunt Mary C. Gurule, nephews Michael Fierro, Charles Garduno Jr., Jason Vasquez, Jose Vasquez II, Justin Vasquez, Ruben Vasquez, and Aaron Vasquez, nieces Sherri (Garduno) Garcia and Andrea (Vaquez) Ried, along with numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to pay respects to Gene at Comi Funeral Home Monday, March 9th between 3:00 and 6:00 pm. A Rosary will be held for Gene on Monday, March 9th at 7:00 pm at Holy Trinity Church. Gene’s Funeral Mass will be Tuesday morning, March 10th at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Church.

Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Colin Fierro, Lonnie Garcia, Chuck Garduno, Jason Vasquez, Justin Vasquez and Rick Ried.
