In Loving Memory of Joe Albert Lopez

Joe Albert Lopez, age 83, went to see God in Heaven, on February 23, 2020. He was born November 20, 1936, in Trinidad, CO, to Alex Lopez and Lola Giron, who both preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Carmen Romero, June 29, 1965. To this marriage were born six children. Dad worked hard most of his life picking in the fields at a young age. He was a baker for 14 years then a coal miner for about 27 years.
He was a proud member of UMWA Local 9856 in Weston, Co.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Carmen Lopez, stepmother Sarah Lopez,
grandparents Juan (Francis) Lopez, sisters Pam Velasquez, Flora Padilla, brothers in law Gene Velasquez, Floyd Padilla, Roy Casaus, Fidel Maestas, Lee Duran, sister-in-law in law, Sylvia Maestas, mother in law Tillie Edwards, father in law Jim Edwards, grandson, B.J.(Red), daughter Ruby Ortiz and grandson David Martinez.
Survivors are sons Albert, Robert (Sonia), Alex, Ronnie Lopez, and daughter Joan (John) Sanchez, sister-in-law Angie Casaus, son in law Dave Ortiz, sister in law Mary Duran, brothers in law Roy Romero, and Alfred Romero.
Joe is also survived by numerous grandchildren great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Dad will also be remembered by close friends Jim and Camilla Armijo, caregiver of four years Kayla Gutierrez and his favorite dog “Buddy” whom he loved to spoil.
At Joe’s request, cremation and no services.
Private inurnment will be at a later date.
