Raton hosted the Robertson Cardinals for the last regular season boys game in Tiger Gym Wednesday February 19, 2020 where Robertson came out on top in both the jv and varsity games with convincing wins.
In the jv game Raton could only muster six points in the first quarter while the Cardinal’s dropped in 21 and continued the trend pulling off double digit scoring the remainder of the game. At half Robertson held a 35 to 10 lead. At the end of the game Robertson held a 28 point lead and took the win home with a 66-38 score.
The varsity game went much the same as the jv with Robertson scoring double digits throughout while Raton’s highest score was 11 in the first quarter. Matthew Quartieri scored all eleven of those points going 3 for 3 at the free line. Matthew and Ben Kamp were the only two to score in the second quarter giving Raton only eight points.
Raton was also plagued by turnovers committing 22 to Robertson’s 12. As the final buzzer sounded on this district game Robertson collected another mark in the win column to take home and create a sort of three way tie with St Mikes (7-1) and West Las Vegas (7-1) with a 7-2 district record. West and St Mikes also played tonight.
