The Lady Cardinals finally traveled up I-25 for a district matchup with Raton Wednesday afternoon February 5, 2020 after the game was postponed Tuesday due to weather and rescheduled for Thursday then rescheduled for Wednesday.
The C-team game saw a slow start for the Lady Tigers with several turnovers in the game, Raton suffered 34 turnovers to Robertson’s 15 and scored in the single digits all four quarters. At the buzzer it was a 43-16 win for Robertson.
The Raton Jv team didn’t fair much better scoring only two point in the first quarter and making 29 turnovers to Robertson’s 14. Raton could only muster single digits throughout the game with the exception of the second quarter where they put in 11. At the final buzzer Robertson led 60-25.
The varsity game saw Raton post 34 points on the board which is better than several of their previous games. However the turnovers plagued the Lady Tigers giving the ball away 36 times to Robertson’s 14. Fouls also plagued both teams in the first half with Raton committing 15 to Robertson’s 12. In the second quarter those fouls gave Robertson 16 of the 25 points they scored.
Despite all the turnovers the Raton defense disrupted the Robertson shooting enough to keep it from going into a running clock until late in the fourth quarter. Once the buzzer sounded for the final time the score board showed a 75 to 34 win for Robertson.
