Fidel Chavez Jr. age 67 of Raton, passed away Friday January 10, 2020 in Raton. He was born February 3, 1951 in Raton, New Mexico the son of Fidel Chavez Sr. and Ramona Montoya-Chavez. Fidel was a carpenter and worked in construction. And was a member of the Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his three daughters, Amy Duran and husband Jerrod of Pueblo, CO, Veneranda Chavez of Raton, NM, and Miranda Chavez and husband Carlos of Mesa, AZ. One son Louis Chavez of Las Angeles, CA, two brothers, Mickey Chavez and wife Madeline of San Angelo, TX, and Jake Chavez of Springfield, MO. Two sisters Loretta Aragon of Pueblo, CO, and Agnes Chavez of Albuquerque, NM. 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. And Ida Chavez mother of Veneranda and Miranda Chavez.
Visitation was Friday January 17, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home in Raton.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary wasSaturday January 18, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton recited by Deacon Thomas Alderette, Mass of the resurrection will follow at 10:30 with Father William Woytavich as the celebrant. Rite of christian burial will be in the Fairmont Cemetery in Raton.
