Erlinda Vasquez, at the tender age of 100, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on December 27, 2019.
She was born on September 19, 1919 in Tabasco, Colorado to Jesus and Maria Lopez. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cristobal, grandson Robert Vasquez and numerous sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and maintained a very strong faith her entire life. She was also a member of Sociedad de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe.
Erlinda was a loyal, dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A hard worker and homemaker with only a third grade education, she devoted herself to raising her nine children, all of whom attended college and received college degrees. She later assisted in raising her grandchildren when needed. She was an incredible cook known especially for her Mexican dishes, making tortillas by the dozen and other delicious meals on a daily basis. She enjoyed baking, always making the best cream puffs, pies, cinnamon rolls and different breads. Erlinda loved sewing, embroidering, word search puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and board games. She was an avid Rockies fan and enjoyed watching daytime soap operas and movies.
She is survived by her nine children, Linda (Donald) DeLong, Christine (Bernie) Blan, Virginia (Charles) Nardine, Tony Vasquez, Gabriel (Bernadette) Vasquez, Teresa Vasquez, Michael (Rachel) Vasquez, Susan Vasquez and Joe (Sonia) Vasquez. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, January 9, 2020 with a Rosary at 9:00 a.m. at Comi Chapel followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Steven J. Murray officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery.
