In Loving Memory of Catherine Elizabeth Rice

Catherine Elizabeth Rice age 86 of Raton, passed away Friday December 20, 2019 in Springer. She was born May 12, 1933 in Raton the daughter of William B. Stevens Jr. and Ellen R. Berry Stevens. Catherine was a rancher, gardener and homemaker. She was a member of the Catholic Church, the Silver Spur Cow Bells, the New Mexico Women’s farm Bureau committee, the Colfax Fair Sponsor, The Farm Bureau and Ranching Family of the year in 2003 and was the Colfax County Fair Grand Marshall in 2016.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents William B. Stevens Sr. and Elizabeth R. Stevens. She is survived by her husband Frank Rice of the home, two sons, Matthew Rice of South Jordan, UT, and Brett Rice of Maxwell, NM. Granddaughters, Shannon Rice Begler of Haze, KS and Natalie Rice of South Jordan, UT. And 4 great grandchildren.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Saturday January 4, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer recited by Deacon Ed Olona, Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 with father Benpot Trieu Van Veu as the celebrant rite of Christian burial will be in the Springer Cemetery.
Arrangements and celebration of love for Catherine Elizabeth Rice are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
