May 2019:
Greetings from Artspace,
Space to Create Trinidad construction began in earnest this May as Gibbs Construction is now in full swing on the rehabilitation of the 200 blocks on Main Street in historic Downtown Trinidad. Much work is needed to both stabilize and restore these historic structures, and also to make improvements to start the next chapter in the lives of three important turn-of-the-century buildings as 13 live/work spaces, and over 20,000 square feet of city-led creative commercial community space. Nearby, the Elm Street site is currently being cleared and prepped for the construction of 28 apartments for the creative sector. Completion of the entire project is expected to be roughly one year from now, in early summer of 2020.
While construction is underway, Artspace will be hosting information sessions in collaboration with the City of Trinidad and Corazon de Trinidad Creative District in July. Our goal is to spread the word about next steps in the application process for live/work space, getting involved in the building of the Space to Create community and helping to answer any questions the public might have regarding the future of this exciting and transformational project.
Sincerely,
Lucas Koski
Artspace Asset Manager
