Raton Lady Tigers hosted the first match of the district tourney Monday evening November 4, 2019 against the West Las Vegas Lady Dons and pulled out a 3-1 win to move on to the next round of play against the Santa Fe Indian School Lady Braves Tuesday evening.
Raton took the early lead in game one with a six point lead only to find themselves battling the Lady Dons as they came from a six point deficit to a 13-12 score. Then Raton managed to pull away y only to let a significant eight point lead dwindle to only two before putting the game away.
Game two saw Raton once again pull out with a 8-2 lead and find themselves tied with the Lady Dons at 10. The sacred tied at 14 saw West take the lead and pull out to 23-19 before Giana Marez served two aces and tied the game at 23. West went on to pull out game two with the two point win.
Game three saw Raton take a 3-0 lead only to find it a tie game at 4. Raton took a big lead and never looked back as they went to 12-4 and later to a 23-11 lead only to see it dwindle to a 23-19 score later in the game. Raton managed to pull it out with a six point win.
Game four saw a close match from start to finish with both teams taking the lead only to tie it up with tie scores at 9,10,11,12, 14, 19, 20 and finally at 23 before Raton pulled it out to take the match three games to one.
