In Loving Memory of Margaret Eva (Franklin)Cunico Marchioro

Margaret Eva (Franklin)Cunico Marchioro, 98 years of age, passed on Wednesday, October 18 at Camino Health Care. Margaret was born June 9, 1921 in DeSoto, Kansas to the late James and Margaret (MacDonald) Franklin. She was one of seven children, which have all preceded her in death. She stated her first memory of life was living in Pasamonte, New Mexico in a dugout. Margaret graduated in 1937 from Clayton High School in New Mexico. Margaret was a long time resident of Raton until she moved to Santa Fe.

Although, Margaret had a variety of careers to include an elected public official and a bookkeeper, she valued her role as a mother above all else as indicated by her words:
As life ends, as it should
I thank God for Motherhood

She is survived by her children Betty (pre-deceased Ernest) Martinez, Barbara(Lorenzo) Martinez, Mary Ann(Gene) Salas, Joseph Cunico III, Franklin Cunico and Gene Ray Marchioro; grandchildren, Steve (Cindi) Martinez, Debbie (Donny) Tesso, Gina Martinez, Delfinio Martinez, Lori (Juergen) Kadzikowski, Lisa (Leon) Lundstrom, Lawrence (Shelly) Martinez, Lance Martinez, Rhonda (Andy) Neil, Denise(Bob) Taylor, Rod (Julie) Salas, Jannea Cunico, Brandi Bell, Frankie Sears, Nicole Cunico, Grace Cunico, and Jessica Cunico; thirty-one great grandchildren and 15 great-great children.

Margaret loved painting, crafting, spending time with family, singing, telling jokes, spinning tales, laughing and above all else…dancing.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 24, 10:30 at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Margaret’s burial took place at Mount Calvary Cemetery on October 28th in Raton, New Mexico.
