Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Brazos River: Mike Jozwiakowski of Santa Fe caught and released a 17-inch brown trout below the Brazos Box using a pheasant tail nymph fly Oct. 4.
Chama River: Lynda Trujillo of Santa Fe caught a 16-inch rainbow trout using salmon eggs Oct. 5.
Eagle Nest Lake: Shawn Roberts of Taos caught a 17-inch kokanee salmon fishing from the bank using a worm Oct. 6. Michael Lopez, Michael Lopez Jr. and Pancho Montoya, all of Pojoaque Pueblo caught a pike and several rainbow trout using Panther Martin spinners and salmon peach PowerBait Oct. 4.
Elephant Butte Lake: Javier and Emerlee Carrera, ages 7 and 6, of Alamogordo caught many 2-pound white bass using white slabs Oct. 5.
Grindstone Reservoir: J.D. Dennis of Alamogordo caught a 19-inch, 3-pound rainbow trout using Pautzke Fire Bait Garlic Wildfire Oct. 5.
Navajo Lake: Matthew Medina of Albuquerque caught 6 kokanee salmon using snagging hooks Oct. 1.
Pecos River: Benjamin Naranjo of Albuquerque caught a 22-inch brown trout using nightcrawlers Oct. 1.
Ute Lake: Joshua Seaton, age 10, of Summerfield, Texas caught a 4-pound largemouth bass using a spinnerbait Oct. 5.

Chama River: Sean Saiz, age 19, of Albuquerque caught a 25-inch brown trout below El Vado Lake using a Panther Martin spinner Sept. 29.
Gallinas River: James Archuleta caught a 22-inch, 5.5-pound brown trout using a Panther Martin spinner Sept. 30.
Rio Costilla: Tom and Pearl Yeager of Des Montes caught a 17.5-inch and 18-inch rainbow trout using Panther Martin and Rooster Tail spinners Sept. 28.
San Juan River: Mary Freelove of Round Rock, Texas caught a 30-inch brown trout using a fly Sept. 29.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Lylah-Jane, age 3, of Albuquerque caught two 18-inch rainbow trout using salmon eggs while fishing with her grandpa Martin Sept. 28.

Charette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron Monday morning was 26.5 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, terrestrial fly patterns, caddis dry flies and small nymph flies.
Clayton Lake: Fishing pressure has been light. Anglers reported fishing as slow with only a few trout caught using PowerBait. The boat ramp is closed due to low water levels.
Conchas Lake: Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was good using buzz baits, Whopper Ploppers, Senkos and creature baits. Fishing for white bass and walleye was fair using live minnows. Fishing for catfish was good using hotdogs. We had no reports on other species.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was 7.94 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using small dry flies, hoppers and bead head nymph flies.
Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Coyote Creek: Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs.
Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing for trout was good using salmon peach PowerBait, yellow glitter cheese flavored marshmallows and Panther Martin spinners. Fishing for pike was fair using spoons and Panther Martin spinners tipped with salmon peach PowerBait. We had no reports this week on other species.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing for trout was good using flies, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms.
Fawn Lakes: The last report was that high runoff water has created poor fishing conditions.
Gallinas River: Fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners.
Hopewell Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using flies, spinners, PowerBait and worms.
Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Maloya: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Los Pinos River: Fishing for trout was good using terrestrial fly patterns with small bead head nymph dropper flies.
Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Monastery Lake: Fishing for trout was good using dry flies, spinners, Pautzke’s pink corn and PowerBait.
Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 34.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using live worms, red San Juan Worm flies, salmon eggs, PowerBait and Panther Martin spinners.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 43.7 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs, nymph flies and Panther Martin spinners.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 301 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners, streamers, bead head nymphs and night crawlers. Fishing near Albuquerque for catfish was good using cut bait, hotdogs and nightcrawlers dipped in garlic.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was 15.1 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using small hopper flies and nymph flies.
Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 8.78 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using nymph flies and salmon eggs.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco Monday morning was 8.12 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using a variety of dry flies, salmon eggs and small bead head nymph flies.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing for trout was slow.
Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1-Dec. 31.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: Fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass was good using Whopper Ploppers, spinner baits and wacky rigged Senkos. Fishing for white bass was good using jigging slabs and blade baits in 30 to 35 feet of water, and fair trolling Model A Bomber 300 series Bandit lures. Fishing for walleye was slow. Fishing for catfish was good fishing shallow using punch bait and nightcrawlers. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms. We had no reports on other species. The main lake was clear, and the water temperature was in the mid 70s.
Northwest Fishing Report
Abiquiu Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Due to low water levels anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 166 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains:Fishing for bass was fair to good using small crank baits. Fishing for bluegill was good using small dry flies and small worms. Fishing for carp was good using dough bait.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing for tiger muskie was fair using paddle tail swimbaits, jointed swimbaits, Rapalas and spinnerbaits. Wilfred Eriacho caught two tiger muskie using a trout pattern swim bait Oct. 6. We had no reports on other species this week.
Brazos River: Fishing for trout was good using pheasant tail nymph flies, Panther Martin spinners and salmon eggs.
Canjilon Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners, flies and PowerBait.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 659 cfs and 697 cfs respectively. Fishing for trout below El Vado Lake was good using hopper flies with leach fly droppers, tungsten bead-head green scud flies, peacock nymph flies, salmon eggs, worms, Panther Martin spinners, nightcrawlers and yellow garlic PowerBait. Fishing below Abiquiu Lake for trout was fair using PowerBait, bead head nymphs and worms.
Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: Fishing for trout was good using yellow PowerBait, garlic flavored PowerBait and PowerBait Power Worms.
Heron Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 13.1 cfs. Fishing for trout in the Valles Caldera, Rio San Antonio and East Fork was good using hopper flies with nymph droppers.
Laguna del Campo: Fishing for trout was fair to good using gold spinners and PowerBait.
Lagunitas Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using terrestrial pattern flies.
Lake Farmington: Fishing from shore for smallmouth bass was fair to good using small jerk baits and top water jitterbugs.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing for bass was slow. Fishing for pike was fair using swimbaits and jerk baits. Fishing for kokanee salmon using snagging hooks was good around the dam. Kokanee salmon snagging season is open from Oct. 1 – Dec. 31. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 604 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality water was good using small midge and Baetis fly patterns size 24. Top water fly fishing for trout was good using midge clusters, grey adult midge fly patterns, Blue Winged Olive flies, hoppers and ant flies. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was very good using worms and spinners.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, leach pattern flies and salmon eggs.
Tingley Beach: Fishing for bass was good using Senko worms. We had no reports on other species.
Trout Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait.
Southwest Fishing Report
Alumni Pond: Fishing for catfish was slow using homemade dough baits. Fishing for bass was fair using poppers.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing for crappie was fair using small jigs. Fishing for bluegill was fair using worms and bright colored flies.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing for bass was slow.
Caballo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing for white bass was good jigging Kastmaster lures, white Bomber Slab Spoons and using top water lures in schools of rising fish. Fishing for largemouth bass was good using centipede plastic baits and 3-inch silver Acme Phoebe northern pike silhouette lures. Fishing for catfish was good using live minnows and worms. Fishing for walleye was slow. Fishing for crappie was good using minnows around the marina.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing for bass was slow using plastic baits around trees. Anglers reported that the water level recently dropped about 10-feet and the clarity is murky to muddy. We had no reports on other species.
