In Loving Memory of Dorothy May Heffernan Floersheim

Dorothy May Heffernan Floersheim passed away Oct 6, 2019. She was born May 27, 1925 in Buffalo, New York to Vera Weber Heffernan King and Louis Heffernan. She attended and graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing and was capped as a Registered Nurse. While at Nursing School, she met Dr. Milton Floersheim, Jr., who was doing his Medical Doctor residency. They were married April 28, 1944. Dr. Floersheim was drafted into the Navy for World War II. After his discharge, they returned to his birthplace in Roy, New Mexico, where he practiced medicine, then on to Raton in 1948. Dorothy worked at the old Miner’s Hospital and then became an office nurse for her husband, until his retirement in 1989. She was preceded in death by her Father, Louis, Mother, Vera King, Brothers Robert, William and Donald and by one son, Milton Floersheim, III. Surviving are sister Lynn Floersheim, children, Linda Stafford of Marietta, Georgia and son, Ray and wife Jana, of Raton, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place under the services of The Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home and per Dorothy’s wishes, no services will be held. Please perform an act of Kindness, in Dorothy’s memory. The family would like to thank Dr. Conder, the staff at Hope’s Sr. Care and at The Beehive as well as Anvoi Hospice Care (Robin Pilley. Connie Shields and staff) for their compassionate care.
