Rio Grande: Mike Botto of Rio Rancho caught and released 24 trout, including a 23.5-inch brown trout, using a modified single-hook silver Panther Martin spinner near Taos Sept. 27.

Roswell Kids Pond: Chevy Wyatt, age 12, of Roswell caught an 8-pound catfish using hotdogs Sept. 28.

San Juan River: Tyler Savell, age 16, Tateum Boswell, age 7, and Damone Aguirre, age 17, all of Farmington caught many trout averaging 17 inches using worms and spinners in the bait waters Sept. 29.

Tingley Beach: Adrian DuPree, age 10, of Albuquerque caught and released a 2-pound largemouth bass using a Senko Sept. 28.

The following reports came in late, but are definitely worth mentioning:

Gila River: Mehron Arasteh of Silver City caught an approximately 26-inch, 15-pound catfish using worms and fishing near the Mogollon Box Sept. 21.

Hopewell Lake: Marcelo Richert and his dad, Mark, of Arroyo Hondo caught their limit of trout including a 22-incher using flies, spinners and worms Sept. 22.

Red River: Andres Valdez, age 13, of Velarde caught an 18-inch rainbow trout above the fish hatchery using salmon eggs Sept. 22.

Rio Grande River: George Torres of Stanley caught a 29-pound flathead catfish above Elephant Butte Lake using cut gizzard shad in 3 feet of water Sept. 19.

Roswell Kids Pond: Diego Reyes, age 9, of Roswell caught a 16-inch catfish using hotdogs Sept. 18.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Luke Fazio, age 5, of Albuquerque caught his first rainbow trout. It was 10 inches long and was caught using orange PowerBait Sept. 22.

Valles Caldera: Aaron Sanchez caught a beautiful specimen of brown trout using a hopper fly Sept. 22.

Charette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron Monday morning was 27.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, terrestrial fly patterns, caddis dry flies and small nymph flies.

Clayton Lake: Fishing pressure has been light. Anglers reported fishing as slow with only a few trout caught using PowerBait. The boat ramp is closed due to low water levels.

Conchas Lake: Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was good using ThinFin Storm lures, buzz baits, Senkos and creature baits. Fishing for white bass and walleye was fair using live minnows. Fishing for catfish was good using hotdogs. We had no reports on other species.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was 47.7 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using small dry flies, hoppers and bead head nymph flies.

Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Coyote Creek: Fishing for trout was fair using salmon eggs.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait and Panther Martin spinners. Fishing for perch was fair to good using worms. We had no reports this week on other species.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing for trout was good using flies, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms.

Fawn Lakes: The last report was that high runoff water has created poor fishing conditions.

Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing for trout was good using flies, spinners, PowerBait and worms.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Los Pinos River: Fishing for trout was good using terrestrial fly patterns with a small bead head nymph dropper fly.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing for trout was good using dry flies, spinners, Pautzke’s pink corn and PowerBait.

Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 30.6 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using red San Juan worm flies, salmon eggs, PowerBait and Panther Martin spinners.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 43.7 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs, San Juan worms, nymph flies and Panther Martin spinners.

Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 322 cfs. North of Española the water clarity was improving and fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners, streamers and tungsten bead head nymphs. Fishing near Albuquerque for catfish was good using cut bait, hotdogs and nightcrawlers.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was 15.1 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using small hopper flies and nymph flies.

Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 6.58 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow Monday morning near Penasco was 6.64 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using a variety of dry flies, salmon eggs and small bead head nymph flies.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing for trout was slow.

Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1-Dec. 31.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: Fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass was fair using Whopper Ploppers, chatter baits and wacky rigged Senkos. Fishing for white bass was good using jigging slabs and blade baits in 30 to 35 feet of water and was also fair trolling Model A Bomber 300 series Bandit lures. Fishing for walleye was slow. Fishing for catfish was good in shallow water using punch bait and nightcrawlers. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms. We had no reports on other species. The main lake was clear and the water temperature was in the mid 70s.

Abiquiu Lake: Angler activity was light but limited reports indicated fishing for walleye and bass was fair to good using jerk baits, crank baits and curly tail grubs. Fishing for catfish was fair using nightcrawlers. The lake has remained open to anglers but not swimmers due to the presence of blue green algae. Due to low water levels anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 218 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing for bass was fair to good using wacky rigged Senko worms. Fishing for bluegill was good using small dry flies and small worms. Fishing for carp ranging up to 20 pounds was good using dough bait.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing for tiger muskie was fair using paddle tail swimbaits, jointed swimbaits, Rapalas and spinnerbaits. We had no reports on other species this week.

Brazos River: Fishing for trout was fair to good using Panther Martin spinners and salmon eggs.

Canjilon Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners and PowerBait.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 298 cfs and 428 cfs respectively. Fishing for trout below El Vado Lake was good using tungsten bead head green scud flies, peacock nymph flies, salmon eggs, worms, Panther Martin spinners, nightcrawlers and PowerBait. Fishing below Abiquiu Lake for trout was fair using PowerBait, small flies and worms.

Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Fenton Lake: Fishing for trout was good using yellow PowerBait, garlic flavored PowerBait and PowerBait Power Worms.

Heron Lake: Fishing for trout was slow using worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 9.05 cfs. Fishing for trout in the Valles Caldera, Rio San Antonio and East Fork was good using terrestrial pattern flies, hoppers and gold spinners.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing for trout was fair to good using gold spinners and PowerBait.

Lagunitas Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using terrestrial pattern flies.

Lake Farmington: Fishing from shore for smallmouth bass was fair to good using small jerk baits and top water jitterbugs.

Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing for bass was slow but some anglers reported having success using watermelon red flake plastic tubes. Fishing for pike was fair using swimbaits and jerk baits. Anglers reported seeing kokanee salmon porpoising, or leaping, near the dam. Kokanee salmon snagging season is open from Oct. 1 – Dec. 31. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 586 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality water was good using small midge larva fly patterns size 24 and 26 dark colors, red annelids, and size 10 dead chicken flies. Top water fly fishing for trout was good using midge clusters and Griffith Gnats. Fishing for trout in the bait waters was very good using worms and spinners.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, leach pattern flies and black dry flies.

Tingley Beach: Fishing for bass was good using Senko worms. We had no reports on other species.

Trout Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait.

Alumni Pond: Fishing for catfish was slow using homemade dough baits. Fishing for bass was fair using poppers.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing for crappie was good fishing 7 feet deep using a slip bobber rig with a 1/16-ounce pink jig head with a red and white plastic curly tail grub on the jig head. Anglers also reported catching crappie using watermelon minnow imitations with red glitter and squiggly tail. Fishing for bluegill was fair using worms and bright colored flies.

Bill Evans Lake: Fishing for bass was slow.

Caballo Lake: Fishing for white bass was fair to good using chartreuse crank baits. Fishing for bass was slow.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing for white bass was good jigging Kastmaster lures, white and yellow Bomber slab spoons and using top water lures in schools of rising fish. Fishing for largemouth bass was good using 4-inch chartreuse or lime green crawdad plastic baits and 3-inch silver Acme Phoebe Northern Pike Silhouette lures. Fishing for catfish was good using beef liver bait, shrimp, minnows, homemade dough bait and hotdogs. Fishing for walleye was slow to fair using 6-inch silver diving lures. Fishing for crappie was good using minnows around the marina.

Escondida Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gila River: Stream flow Monday morning was 44.4 cfs. Fishing for catfish was fair near the Mogollon Box.

Glenwood Pond: Fishing for trout was fair using flies and PowerBait.

Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Percha Dam: Fishing for all species was slow.

Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 588 cfs. Fishing for catfish above Elephant Butte Lake was good using cut gizzard shad. Fishing below Elephant Butte for catfish was fair using worms, cut bait and homemade dough baits for catfish.

Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Young Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alto Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait and worms.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Berrendo Creek: Fishing for bass was fair using spinner baits.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga Monday morning was 46.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.

Bosque Redondo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing for bass was fair using buzz baits.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing for catfish was slow to fair using stink bait and worms. Fishing for largemouth bass was fair using rooster tail spinners and plastic baits.

Greene Acres Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms.

Jal Lake: Fishing for catfish was fair using hotdogs and homemade dough baits.

Lake Van: Fishing for catfish was fair using shrimp, cheese and stink bait.

Oasis Park Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake Monday morning was 84.3 cfs. Fishing for catfish was fair using worms, shrimp and minnows. Fishing for carp was fair using corn and bread.

Perch Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow Monday morning at Hollywood was 5.55 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair using flies and salmon eggs.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing for bass is fair to good using plastic baits around trees. Anglers reported that the water level recently dropped about 10 feet and the clarity is murky to muddy. We had no reports on other species.

Sumner Lake: Fishing for all species was slow. A few largemouth and smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using top water lures in the early mornings. We had no reports on other species.
