It was a tough evening for Lady Tiger Volleyball as they hosted the West Las Vegas Lady Dons for the first district match of the season at home in Tiger Gym with the varsity the only team to take the win for the match.
The Raton C-team struggled right from the start but have showed improvement since they began the season. In game one West simply dominated the play and held off the Lady Tigers by 15 points. In game two Raton fired better only losing by six.
The Jv squad split one with West and took their match into the tie breaker game timing the game at five. West would hold the girls down and come out on top by seven to take the match.
Raton kept the first two games of the match close but never dominated at the net as most volleys went long into the back of the court. Raton never let West get too far ahead but lost both games by five. In game three and four West handed Raton the games as they hit several balls into the net on serves and hits as well as sending the ball out of bounds. With West loosing both games by six that sent the match into the tie breaker.
Raton took the lead and looked like they would easily win the game as West continued beating themselves with balls out of bounds and into the net. with a 12-8 score Raton hit a slump and handed West for points with balls in the net and out of bounds. Tied at 13 and again at 14 points Raton finally managed to pull it out as West sent the ball into the net on the final volley for the Raton win.
