Carmen Gonzales, age 96 of Trinidad, Colorado was called to rest on September 25, 2019. Carmen was born on July 16, 1923 and grew up in Cimarron, New Mexico.
Carmen’s purpose in life was being a loving, devoted mother to her children. She was united in marriage to Jake Gonzales. Together they had nine children: Jake (Patsy), Carlos (Frances), Frank (Betty), Mario (Flora), Ben (Becky), George (Linda), Henry (Diane), Tom and Dianna.
Carmen was blessed to be part of two families, the Montoya family and the Garcia family. Combined, she had sixteen siblings all of who she loved dearly.
Carmen is survived by six children, twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren, forty-six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her best friend Martha Gonzales.
Carmen is preceded in death by her husband Jake, her children Mario, Carlos and Tom, daughter-in-law Becky, grandchildren Jennifer Jean, Rick, Jeannie and great-grandchild David.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church with graveside services immediately following at the Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her grandsons: Ruben, Robert, Benjie, George, Patrick, Frank Jr. and Leonard.
