Colfax County, NM – On September 16, 2019 at about 3:57 p.m., the New Mexico State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatal rollover crash on Interstate 25, near mile post 404, south of Springer, NM.
The initial investigation indicated a 2011 Subaru was traveling south on Interstate 25 when the driver, Dorothy Anna Leasher (80) of Golden, CO exited the 404 exit, off Interstate 25 at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons the 2011 Subaru ran a stop sign and struck the rear end of a 2013 Subaru driven by a 50-year-old female of Dexter, NM. After the collision both vehicles rolled. The driver of the 2011 Subaru, Leasher was transported to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries sustained in the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The driver and passenger of the 2013 Subaru both sustained injuries believed to be non-life threatening. Both were treated and released from the hospital.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and seatbelts appear to have been properly utilized. No additional information is available at this time.
