State Farm and Raton Rotary Team Up to Support Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Special to KRTN Multi-Media

When Raton Rotary reached its 100thyear anniversary of being a club in 2019, the Club was wanting to find a project that would have a life-long impact on education in Raton and Colfax County.

The Raton Rotary Club found such project in financing the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Raton, Springer, and Maxwell.  This project provides children ages 0-5 years of age a free book that is mailed to the child’s home.  The project is designed to improve family bonding and to improve the literacy rate of kids who will be entering our school systems.   “This program will have a long term positive impact on early education for our incoming students that we believe will help carry them through their graduation,” stated Superintendent Andy Ortiz.

When club member State Farm Agent Jose Archuleta knew the Rotary Club had committed to the project he made some inquiries into a possible State Farm Insurance donation.  After reviewing the project with Jose Archuleta and having the proper forms submitted State Farm Insurance approved the request of the Club and supported the Dolly Parton Imagination Library project with a $1000.00 donation.   “This project is too important and State Farm felt like it was a great opportunity to give back to the families who have supported our Agency over the years,” said State Farm Agent Jose Archuleta.

Since this is an ongoing project that will require a consistent source of funds to purchase books, the Raton Rotary Club would like to give everyone an opportunity to support this cause.

A donor can make contributions at INBANK (Contact Paul Armijo) or FNB New Mexico (Contact Donna Klassen) in Raton.  Additional contacts for donations are club President Devin Barton (Edward Jones) and member Jose Archuleta (State Farm Insurance).

Donations should be made to:   Raton Rotary Charities
