Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Corona Pond: Foster Golightly, age 10, of Corona caught a half pound albino catfish using raw chicken Aug. 19.
Hopewell Lake: Mark Duran-Lippman of Rio Rancho caught a 21-inch rainbow trout using a fly rod with a streamer fly Aug. 17.
Alto Lake: Jaxson Flores, age 9, of Alamogordo caught a 6-pound catfish using a red worm Aug. 17.
Fenton Lake: Jorge Valenzuela and Jacqueline Valenzuela, age 4, of Albuquerque caught a 17.5-inch rainbow trout weighing 2.7-pounds using a gold deluxe Panther Martin spinner Aug. 17.
Elephant Butte: Mike Papasan of Rockport, Texas caught a 25-inch, 6-pound walleye using a white curly tail grub Aug. 17. Bailey Henderson of Dusty caught a 27-inch, 8-pound walleye trolling a fire tiger lure Aug. 18. Calvin and Patricia Largo of Gallup caught their limit of 50 white bass using jigs in 25 feet of water Aug. 19.
Conchas Lake: Luciano Lopez of Tucumcari caught and released a 24-inch, 5.5-pound walleye while fishing at night using live minnows Aug. 17. Hunter Manley, age 2, of Albuquerque caught his first fish, a small mouth bass, using his Mickey Mouse fishing rod with a worm Aug. 18.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Briton Faith Mortensen, age 3, of Placitas caught a 19-inch rainbow trout using salmon eggs Aug. 17. Ryett Ford, age 2, of Placitas caught a 17-inch rainbow trout using salmon eggs Aug. 18.
Escondida Lake: Richard Shewell of Los Lunas caught a 37-inch, 24-pound flathead catfish fishing at night using cut bait Aug. 17.
Pecos River: Gavin George, age 4, of Weed caught a 20-inch catfish using worms at the lower Tansil Dam near Carlsbad Aug. 16.
The following reports came in late, but are definitely worth mentioning:
Conchas Lake: Marcel Almanzar of Rio Rancho caught a 17-inch and an 18-inch largemouth bass simultaneously using a squarebill crankbait Aug. 10.
Canjilon Lakes: Andrew Romero and his dad Frank, both from Albuquerque, caught their limits of trout using an assortment of flies Aug. 12.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Josiah Salgado, age 7, of Albuquerque caught his first rainbow trout, 16-inches, using meal worms Aug. 11.
Elephant Butte Lake: Gavin Ray Baker, age 13, of Las Cruces caught a 10-pound drum using minnows Aug. 11.

Charette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron Monday morning was 23.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using blue wing olive nymphs and caddis dry flies.
Clayton Lake: Fishing for trout was fair using PowerBait. Fishing for catfish was good using chicken liver. Fishing for bass was slow to fair. One angler reported catching a 6-pound bass using a Whopper Plopper. The boat ramp is closed due to low water levels.
Conchas Lake: Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was good using squarebill crankbaits, Pop-Rs, Whopper Ploppers, Senkos and creature baits. Fishing was fair to good for white bass and walleye using live minnows. Fishing for catfish was good using cut bait.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was 58.3 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using small dry flies such as yellow sallies, hoppers and spruce moth flies.
Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing for trout was fair using PowerBait, black woolly buggers and chernobyl ants. Fishing for perch was fair to good using worms. Fishing for pike was fair using spoons. We had no reports this week on other species.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms.
Fawn Lakes: The last report was that high runoff water has created poor fishing conditions.
Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Hopewell Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using streamers, PowerBait, worms, woolly buggers and Pistol Petes.
Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Maloya: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Los Pinos River: Fishing for trout was fair to good using red zebra midge droppers on a hopper fly.
Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Monastery Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using PowerBait and woolly buggers.
Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 58.7 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs, woolly buggers, leach pattern flies and Panther Martin spinners.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 75.7 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using rooster tail spinners, salmon eggs and Panther Martin spinners.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 1,120 cfs. The river level was high and fishing for trout was slow. Fishing near Albuquerque for catfish was good using cut bait. Anglers are advised to bring bug spray.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was 34.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using small hopper flies.
Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 22.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow Monday morning near Penasco was 13.5 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair using Parachute Adams, mosquito flies and blue wing olives.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1-Dec. 31.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: Fishing for largemouth bass in shallow water was good using top water lures such as buzzbaits and Whopper Ploppers. Fishing for smallmouth bass in deeper water was good using drop shot rigs, tubes and chigger craws. Fishing for walleye and crappie was slow. Fishing for white bass was good using jigging spoons in 30 to 35 feet of water. Fishing for catfish was fair using cut bait and stink bait. Fishing for bluegill was very good using small spinners and worms. The main lake was clear, and the water temperature was in the lower 80s. There was a 5.88-pound largemouth bass caught by Butch Colantonio, of Amarillo, Texas and a 5.74-pound largemouth bass caught by Tom Jessop, of Dalhart, Texas Aug. 18.
Northwest Fishing Report
Abiquiu Lake: Due to a blue-green algae bloom the lake was closed to swimming but remains open for fishing. Angler activity was light but limited reports indicated fishing for walleye was fair using curly tail grubs with jig heads. Due to low water levels anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 357 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing for bass was fair to good using micro crankbaits, Senko worms and jitter bug crankbaits. Fishing for bluegill was good using small dry flies.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing for tiger muskie was very good using flies, jointed crankbaits, top water lures and swimbaits. Fishing for catfish was fair using waterdogs and hotdogs. Fishing for trout was very slow.
Brazos River: Fishing for trout was fair to good using Panther Martin spinners, worms and salmon eggs.
Canjilon Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using dry flies, worms and PowerBait. A very sentimental fly rod was lost Aug. 18 and there is a reward for its return. Please email funfishingnm@gmail.com if you have any information.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 605 cfs and 151 cfs respectively. Fishing for trout below El Vado Lake was good using salmon eggs, Panther Martin spinners, nightcrawlers, nymph flies, egg pattern flies and PowerBait worms. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.
Cochiti Lake: Fishing for catfish was good using cut bait. We had no reports on other species.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: Fishing for trout was slow to fair. The best reports came from anglers using spinners.
Heron Lake: Fishing for trout was slow using PowerBait and salmon eggs.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 9.81 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using hopper dry flies with a nymph dropper.
Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lagunitas Lakes: Fishing for trout was fair using dry flies.
Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing for pike was fair to good using swimbaits. The best pike fishing reports came from anglers fishing the Pine arm of the lake. Fishing for bass was slow. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms and small flies. Fishing for kokanee salmon was good using pink, green and purple spinners tipped with corn fished 40 to 50 feet deep. Anglers reported having success fishing for kokanee using Double Whammies, Kokanee Killers and other assorted spinners. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using flies.
San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 1,260 cfs. The Bureau of Reclamation has scheduled an increase in the release from Navajo Reservoir to 1,450 cfs Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. Fishing for trout in the quality water was good using red and crème midge larva fly patterns, size 22 black midge clusters, dark color zebra midges and crystal flash size 24 and 26. Further downstream trout fishing is good using baetis patterns such as root beers and RS2s. With the high water flows, anglers fishing with larger larvae patterns, size 18, are having success.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and small flies.
Tingley Beach: Fishing for catfish was fair using shrimp, homemade dough bait, chicken liver and worms.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Southwest Fishing Report
Alumni Pond: Fishing for catfish was fair to good using worms, stink bait and dough bait.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing for catfish was good at night using worms and homemade dough baits. We had no reports on other species.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing for bass was slow.
Caballo Lake: Fishing for white bass was good using sassy shad, minnows and crankbaits. Fishing for walleye and crappie was slow to fair using sassy shad and deep diving crankbaits. Fishing for catfish was good using minnows, stink bait and cut bait.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing for white bass was very good using top water lures and sassy shad. Fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass was slow. Fishing for walleye was fair using deep diving crankbaits. Fishing for catfish was good using cut carp, worms, minnows, homemade dough bait, hotdogs and chicken liver.
Escondida Lake: Fishing for catfish was fair to good using cut bait.
Gila River: Stream flow Monday morning was 45.5 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Roberts: Fishing for catfish was fair using beef liver.
Percha Dam: Fishing for all species was slow.
Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 2,110 cfs. Fishing below Elephant Butte for catfish was fair using worms, cut bait and homemade dough baits for catfish.

Young Pond: Fishing for catfish was slow.
