Edward Roy Louis (Eddie) Montoya, age 56, was born on May 21, 1963, in Northfork, West Virginia, and passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, July 25, 2019, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Eddie retired from the New Mexico Department of Transportation. He was a volunteer Fireman for the Town of Springer. He took pride in his ministry of distributing commodities throughout the town of Springer. Eddie loved to grow a big garden and would share with all his neighbors. During the Philmont Scout Ranch fire – Eddie volunteered and delivered water to the Boy Scouts at the Springer Fairgrounds.
Eddie was a talented artist in his wood carving and glass etchings which will be displayed at St. Joseph’s Church.
Eddie is survived by his parents Juanita and Edward F. Montoya; his children Brian Archuleta, Kayla Montoya, Shane Montoya, and Adonis Montoya; one sister Cindy Herrera and husband Vincent; brothers Tony Montoya, Shawn Montoya and wife Amy; Aunts and Uncles Tina and Isidro Bernal, Rita Trujillo, Lucille Montoya, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and 4 grandchildren.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be on Thursday August 1, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer, NM recited by Frank Cimino, followed by the Soleman Mass of The Resurrection at 3:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father C. John Brasher as the Celebrant. Followed by a memorial presentation and reception at the Parish Hall.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of the University of New Mexico Trauma Center. They gave exemplary care of Eddie and treated the family with kindness and compassion. The Montoya family would also like to thank everyone who has helped during this difficult time of grief –
