In Loving Memory of Harriet Ellen McMartin Goding

Harriet Ellen McMartin Goding 3/21/1922 – 7/15/2019
Harriet was born on March 21, 1922, in Owatana, MN, the oldest daughter of John and Florence Griswold McMartin. Her family settled in Waseca, MN and she attended local schools there. Harriet pursued her love of nursing and graduated from St Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester MN August 17, 1944. She married Arthur Fawcett in August 1944. They had one son, John McMartin Fawcett, later known as Mac F. Goding. The family relocated to the San Francisco bay area. Her husband Art passed away in 1956. Harriet worked as a nurse at the VA Hospital where she met and married her second husband, Mark Alden Goding in June 1956. The family relocated to Napa, CA where they resided until the mid-1960’s. Later they settled in Potter, NE until Mark’s death in May 1988. She then resided in Sun City, AZ and later with her son Mac in Raton, NM.
Harriet was a caring and loving woman who was generous with her family and community. She volunteered her nursing skills in every place she lived. She loved children and was devoted to her son Mac.
Harriet was preceded in death by husbands Art Fawcett and Mark Goding, son Mac F Goding, sisters Ruth Hoffman and Mary Savage and niece Barbara Hoffman.
Harriet is survived by nephew Bruce Hoffman (Sue), niece Mary Peterson (Gary) and grand-nephew, Cameron Hoffman. Harriet will be interred in the McMartin family plot at the Claremont cemetery in Claremont, MN.
Harriet resided at Colfax General Long Term Care in Springer NM since 2014 where she received exceptional care. Harriet’s family is grateful for the loving kindness and tenderness she received while in their care.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral home of Raton, NM.
