Dwayne Lee Austin, age 43, died Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at his home in Clayton, New Mexico.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 12, 2019 by Deacon P. Louis Montoya and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Jason Pettigrew as Celebrant. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton of Clayton.
Dwayne Lee Austin was born on April 22, 1976 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Robert Lee Austin and Jenny Lou Molinas. Dwayne worked as a correctional officer at the Guadalupe County Correctional Facility “GCCF” in Santa Rosa where he was a Canine Officer for 4 years. He worked as a Deputy Sheriff in Quay County and as a Federal Park Ranger for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers then returned to GCCF in Santa Rosa and was promoted to Housing Sergeant. In 2008 he transferred to the NENMDF in Clayton and was promoted to Captain and later to Major (Chief of Security). After moving to Clayton, Dwayne met and later married Annette (Lucero) Austin on March 6, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dwayne also worked as an officer for the Clayton Police Department and then returned to NENMDF. Throughout his career in the correctional departments and Law Enforcement Dwayne earned numerous certifications. Dwayne was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Austin on February 23, 2013.

WIFE: Annette Austin.
3 DAUGHTERS: Naomi Padilla, Olivia Austin and Aaliyah Austin.
2 SONS: Benjamin-Luke Austin and Jerome Padilla.
HIS MOTHER: Jenny Molinas.
STEP-MOTHER: Mary Jane Austin.
3 BROTHERS: Robert “Robbie” Austin and his wife Theresa, Jose Apodaca and Rick Apodaca, Jr.
2 STEP-BROTHERS: Ken Andrade and John Andrade.
1 STEP-SISTER: Jackie Polaco.
HIS MOTHER-IN-LAW & FATHER-IN-LAW: Sofie and Phil Lucero, Sr.
2 BROTHERS-IN-LAW: Phil Lucero, Jr. and his wife Andrea and Rick Lucero.
1 SISTER-IN-LAW: Jess Sandoval and her husband Sal.
Josephine & Richard Apodaca who were like parents to him.
And numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
