In Loving Memory of Alex E. Ortiz

Alex E. Ortiz 73 passed away on June 30, 2019 with the evening skies a Denver Bronco blue an orange.  He was born on March 24, 1946 in Ocate, New Mexico to his late parents Melecio an Maclovia Ortiz.  He is preceded in death by not only his parents but by one sister Mabel Vialpando, four brothers and wives: Chris and Erlinda, Obed and Molly, Bentuda and Lulu, Floyd and Leelay and oldest brother Levy who passed as a child. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Martha Ortiz, son Jude Trujillo. Daughter’s: Sheri and husband Matthew Rigdon and Teri Trujillo.  Twin sister Precides Ortiz and husband Eddie Cordova. Brother Joe and wife Louise Ortiz (all of Raton, NM).  Grandchildren; Daniel Armijo of Martinez, California, Bailey Trujillo of Perth, Western Australia, Gabriel Trujillo of Perth, Western Australia, Brandon Martin and girlfriend Autumn Nichols of Raton, NM, and his princess Nadia Martin of Raton, NM and special granddaughters: Lila Martin and Aubri Espinoza an many brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. 

Alex was a member of St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was also a coal miner for 24 ½ years and was a member of a local UMWA 7949.  He worked at the New Mexico Boys School for 2 years and Raton Public Service for 17 years after his retirement from the mine.  He had a love for both horse and dog racing.  His favorite activities were having coffee with the boys, playing BINGO, fishing at area lakes and bowling.  We cannot forget is love for the Denver Broncos, Norte Dame, Wrestling and watching Westerns. 

He was a good man who would do anything for anybody an anyone he came across was his friend.  He loved his family very much especially his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by his family. 

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be on July 6th,2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Solemn Mass of The Resurrection will be July 6th, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant.  Rite of committal and internment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangement’s for Alex. E. Ortiz are under the direction of Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home. 

The family would like to thank MCMC Long Term, Dr. Ali, Heather and Jeanette at MCMC who took care of him during his last month.  The family would also like to thank the nurses and staff of the DCI of Raton, where he was a patient for 8 years, especially Tabitha Quintana who was his favorite.  In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the DCI of Raton in memory of Alex.
