This fishing report, provided by Bill Dunn and the Department of Game and Fish, has been generated from the best information available from area officers and anglers. Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.
Abiquiu Lake: Lincoln Eastburn of Santa Fe caught and released a 19-inch walleye June 24. He was using a jig and curly tail grub on his new spincast combo.
Caballo Lake: Brody Montoya, age 8, of Magdalena caught a 20-inch walleye June 20. He was trolling a crank bait.
Cochiti Lake: Allen Roussin of Rio Rancho caught and released a 29-inch northern pike June 22. He was using a crank bait.
Conchas Lake: Luke Grossetete of Albuquerque caught a 5-pound, 8-ounce smallmouth bass June 22. He was using a shad colored Rapala Fat Rap. Jacob Larrazolo of Edgewood caught an 8-pound largemouth bass June 24. He was using a crank bait.
Eagle Rock Lake: Sisters Eve and Sofia Mondragon, ages 5 and 7, from Ojo Caliente caught an 18-inch and a 17.5-inch rainbow trout June 22. They were using rainbow PowerBait.
Escondida Lake: Maverick Alan Vallejos, age 3, of Belen caught his first fish ever, a channel catfish, June 20. He was using a worm under a bobber.
Greene Acres Lake: Layla Rodriguez, age 10, of Clovis caught a 5-pound carp June 18. She was fishing for catfish.
Pecos River: Ryan Sanchez, age 18, of Santa Fe caught a 23-inch rainbow trout June 19. He was using a worm. Joshua Medina, age 10, of Jarales caught a 24-inch rainbow trout June 18. He was using salmon eggs. John Hylton of Rio Rancho caught a 24-inch rainbow trout June 22. He was fishing near Dalton Canyon and using worms. Andre Martinez of Santa Rosa caught a 15-pound flathead catfish. He was using cut bait.
Perch Lake: Andre Martinez of Santa Rosa caught a 6-pound catfish June 22. He was using cut bait.
Percha Dam: Hailey R. Dominguez, age 8, of El Paso, TX caught a 26-inch, 5-pound walleye June 16. It was her personal best and she was using a shiner minnow.
Roswell Kids Pond: Maxx Perry, age 11, of Indianola, Iowa caught a 30-inch catfish June 23. He was using hotdogs. Chevy Wyatt, age 11, of Roswell caught an 8-pound catfish June 22. He was using chicken liver.
Stubblefield Lake: Hue Gonzales of Angel Fire caught an estimated 5 to 6 pound catfish June 18. He was jigging a white swim bait off the bottom.
The following reports came in late, but are definitely worth mentioning:
Charette Lakes: Alex Lovato of Las Vegas caught a 22-inch rainbow trout June 15. He was using a Pistol Pete.
Clayton Lake: Anthony Navarette and Phil Lucero of Clayton teamed up to land a 27-inch, 8.12-pound walleye June 3. They were using a bottom bouncer nightcrawler rig.
Eagle Nest Lake: Kaitlyn Bostel, age 6, of Kerrville, TX caught and released a 20-inch and a 22-inch rainbow trout June 12. She was using PowerBait on a barbless hook.
Navajo Lake: Danette Davis of Rio Rancho caught a 21-inch, 6-pound, smallmouth bass June 12. She was using a green pumpkin senko. That same day she caught her first northern pike on her first cast. She was using a minnow.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Brady Martinez, age 10, of Santa Fe caught an 18.5-inch rainbow trout June 15. He was using salmon eggs.
Stubblefield Lake: Hue Gonzales of Angel Fire caught a 25-inch walleye June 12. He was fishing in the evening hours and using a fire tiger Rapala jerk bait.

Northeast Fishing Report
Cabresto Lake: Trout fishing was good using a variety of small midge and baetis patterns.
Charette Lakes: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday morning was 24.0 cfs. Fishing was good using San Juan worms, spinners and worms for trout. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using PowerBait, worms and Pistol Petes for trout.
Clayton Lake: Fishing was good using nightcrawlers, spinners and PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Conchas Lake: Fishing was very good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, swim baits, Ned rigs, plastic worms, flukes, senkos and tubes for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Richard Phillips reported that he and Jerry Satterfield of Alto caught and released a good number of smallmouth and largemouth bass this past week. They were using root beer green Venom worms and white Bomber crank baits. Luke Grossetete and Freddy Lawrence of Albuquerque caught several white bass, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass over the weekend. They were using crank baits and a vintage torpedo top water from their late grandfather’s tackle box. Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, sassy shad and top water lures for white bass. Fishing was fair using bottom bouncer spinner/worm rigs and minnow rigs for walleye. Fishing was fair using cut bait, homemade dough baits and liver for catfish. The surface water temp was in the low to mid 70s.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla on Monday was 110 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.
Coyote Creek: Fishing was good using salmon eggs and worms for trout.
Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was good using spinners, Kastmasters and PowerBait for rainbow trout. The best reports came from anglers fishing from the bank and using PowerBait. Fishing was very good using small crappie jigs and worms for perch. Fishing was good using streamers, Daredevles, Kastmasters and spinners for northern pike. A few kokanee were caught by anglers trolling for trout.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, spinners, worms, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: Fishing was fair to good using worms, copper John Barrs and Fire Balls for trout.
Hopewell Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for rainbow and brook trout.
Lake Alice: Fishing was good using PowerBait and spoons for trout.
Lake Maloya: Fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, spoons, spinners, copper John Barrs, wooly buggers and PowerBait for rainbow trout up to 20 inches.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was slow for all species.
Monastery Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 240 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using worms, shrimp, salmon eggs, wooly buggers and bead head hares ears for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout. Jude Gabaldon reported that he and one other angler caught limits of rainbow trout one day this past weekend. They were using shrimp.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 140 cfs. Fishing near the hatchery was fair using worms, PowerBait and spinners for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 4,320 cfs. Fishing was slow for all species.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning was 117 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 102 cfs. Fishing was good using night crawlers for trout.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Penasco was 109 cfs. Fishing was good using worms for trout.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was fair to good using small crank baits, spoons, Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Gulp eggs for trout.
Shuree Ponds: Open for the season July 1.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using spoons, crank baits and night crawlers for mixed bag of largemouth bass, walleye and catfish
Ute Lake: Fishing was very good using worms and small crappie jigs for big bluegill. Fishing was good using top water lures and flipping soft plastics in shallow water for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing good using top trolling crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair using jigs, grubs and minnows in the trees for walleye. A few catfish were caught by anglers fishing at night and using homemade dough bait. The surface water temp was in the low 70s.
Northwest Fishing Report
Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow but there were a few crappie, walleye and smallmouth bass caught this past week. Anglers were using spinners, minnows, curly tail grubs and crank baits. The surface water temp was in the low 60s. Anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 3,630 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, jerk baits, swim baits large streamers and catfish bait for tiger muskie. We had no reports on other species.
Brazos River: Fishing was good using San Juan worms, copper John Barrs and worms for trout.
Canjilon Lakes: Fishing was fair using spoons, Pistol Petes and PowerBait for trout.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 1,420 cfs and 1,480 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair using night crawlers and Rapalas for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.
Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow, but anglers using minnows, jigs, crank baits and spinner baits caught a few largemouth bass and white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using beef liver, homemade dough baits, worms and cut bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.
El Vado Lake: Fishing was very good using chartreuse spoons, tubes, jigs and swim baits for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species.
Fenton Lake: Fishing was good using spoons, Pistol Petes, nightcrawlers, PowerBait, spinners and a variety of flies for trout.
Heron Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait from the bank for rainbow trout. We had no other reports.
Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 20.5 cfs. Fishing on the Jemez, East Fork, San Antonio and Cebolla was good using worms, hoppers, copper John Barr droppers, small green nymphs and stimulators for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports on the other streams.
Laguna del Campo: Fishing was good using spoons, Pistol Petes, PowerBait and worms for trout.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow for all species.
Manzano Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing was fair using minnows for crappie. Fishing was fair using senkos, swim baits, crank baits, curly tail grubs, spinner baits and jigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, buzz baits and swim baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow was increased to 600 cfs this past Saturday and was flowing at 596 cfs on Monday morning. Trout fishing through the quality waters was fair using red larva, San Juan worms, scuds and small streamers. Fishing the bait waters was fair to good using night crawlers, small spoons and jerk baits.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, a wide assortment of small flies and Pistol Petes for trout.
Tingley Beach: Fishing at the Central and Youth ponds was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing for all other species was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using homemade dough bait and worms.
Trout Lakes: Fishing was slow.
Southwest Fishing Report
Alumni Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was good using homemade dough baits, chicken liver, worms and hotdogs for catfish.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Caballo Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using minnows for crappie, white bass and walleye. A few white bass and walleye were also caught by anglers using crank baits and spoons. Fishing was fair using liver and worms for catfish. The best reports again this week came from anglers fishing near the dam and at the north end of the lake.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was fair using top water lures, small swim baits, minnows, crank baits and spinners for white bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, creature baits, Ned rigs, tubes, top water lures, senkos and jerk baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, minnows and curly tail grubs for walleye and crappie. Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using cut bait, worms and chicken liver for catfish.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using worms, hot dogs and liver.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 26.5 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was fair using spinners, Pistol Petes, worms and PowerBait for rainbow and Gila trout. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits and worms for largemouth bass. We had no other reports.
Percha Dam: Fishing was fair to good using minnows, crank baits, swim baits and curly tail grubs for a mixed bag of walleye, largemouth bass and white bass. Fishing was good using cut bait, homemade dough bait, worms and hot dogs for catfish.
Quemado Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, small Rapalas, Kastmasters, spoons and Pistol Petes for trout.
Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 2,160 cfs. Fishing below Elephant Butte and downstream from Caballo was good using curly tail grubs, small crank baits, sassy shad and minnows for white bass and walleye. Fishing downstream from Caballo was good using night crawlers, hotdogs, homemade dough baits and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.
Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Young Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Southeast Fishing Report
Alto Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and worms for trout. Fishing was slow to fair using hot dogs, liver and worms for catfish.
Bataan Lake: Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. We had no reports on other species.
Berrendo Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 2.88 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Blue Hole Park Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.
Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Brantley Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, swim baits, Ned rigs, weedless spoons and jigs for white bass and largemouth bass.
