It is with great sadness to announce that Charles Melvin DeMaris has passed away on May 11 at the age of 74.
Charles was born on October 25, 1944 in Hamlet, NC to Melvin and Helen DeMaris. He worked as a teacher and then as a Methodist pastor until his retirement in July 1, 2013.
He was an avid outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and also cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a student of history and would gladly bend the ear of anyone who appeared to show even a passing interest.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 26 years, Margaret, his children Charles (Carren DeMaris) and Matthew, and granddaughter Kirsten, step children Robert Johnson, Tina Glenz, Tina and Troy Trzebuckowski, and many extended relatives.
Memorial service will be held at Cimarron United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 am, officiated by the Reverend John Barrett.
Flowers may be sent to the church.
