Otho “Coke” Wiseman, age 95, died Friday, May 17, 2019 in Amarillo, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Otho “Coke” Wiseman was born on March 4, 1924, in Grenville, New Mexico to Albert Wiseman and Ethel Estella (Nelson) Wiseman. Coke served in the US Army during WWII in Africa, Italy, France and Germany he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and was a disabled veteran. Coke married Betty Lee (Hall) Wiseman on June 12, 1946 in Clayton and she preceded him in death on February 25, 1981. He worked for the railroad, the highway department, served as a deputy sheriff and worked for the Fire Department until he retired. He was president of the Golden Age Club and was very active in the Clayton Senior Citizens Center where he served on the Mayor’s Committee. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and family reunions. Coke was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clayton. In addition to his wife and parents, Coke was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Ray Wiseman on September 13, 2005 and by 12 brothers and sisters.

SURVIVORS:

2 SONS: George Wiseman and his fiancé Jeanie Delillo and Lonnie Wiseman and his wife Shirley all of Clayton, New Mexico.

3 DAUGHTERS: Wilberta Castleberry of Baytown, Texas, Stella Jean Larance and her husband Roy of Midland, Texas and Viola Mae Wright of Amarillo, Texas.

23 GRANDCHILDREN: Kesha Kopp, Chad Castleberry, Christine Hartsell, Kimberly Chevuront, Debra Wiseman, Diane Wiseman, William Robert Kingsbury, David Dwight Williams, Gary Don Larance, Shana Akins, Tamra Kehr, Darian Wright, Vicki Fulton, Alecia Marie Wiseman, Jennifer Giraitis, Jessica Giraitis, Jacqueline Giraitis, Joleen Giraitis, Brandon Lee Humble, Almon Giraitis, Stormie Michelle Adams, Melonie Dawn Martinez and Nicholas Nathan Wiseman.

34 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Coke’s memory to the Disabled Veterans, The Wounded Warrior Foundation or to the Clayton Senior Citizens Center.
