In Loving Memory of Gilbert “Chico” Sisneros

It is with great sorrow to announce that Gilbert “Chico” Sisneros has passed away on May 10, 2019 at the age of 75.
Chico was born on March 18, 1944 in Dawson New Mexico to Juan and Marcelina Sisneros. He worked as a young man at Safeway for 8 years then spent 26 years as a coal miner and retired in 2018 after 22 years with Serazio Construction.
On June 24th, 1961 he married the love of his life Theresa Lopez. They raised 5 children, Gilbert “Beau” Sisneros (Anecia Sisneros), Terry Sisneros (Sherry Sisneros), Veronica Gallegos (David Gallegos), Vincent Sisneros and Thomas Sisneros (Jeffery Miller).
Chico loved all sports including Baseball, Football, Bowling, Hunting, Fishing and an occasional Golf outing. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams – Denver Broncos, LA Dodgers, Boston Celtics and Horse racing. He was well known in the community and always helped selling raffle tickets for St. Joseph’s Fiesta. Everyone who knew Chico always had a kind word to say about him. He was known for his infectious smile, sense of humor and most of all, his gentle loving heart.
Chico was preceded in death by his father Juan and his mother Marcelina. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Theresa, his five children: Beau, Terry, Veronica, Vincent and Thomas, his brothers Paul, Carlos, Tony, Joe and sister Elma as well as 18 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation/Viewing will be held on Thursday May 16, 2019 at Yaksich – Long Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday May 17, 2019 at St. Patrick-St. Joseph Catholic Church on Buena Vista St. Raton, N.M., recited by Frank Cimino Jr. Mass of the Resuriction will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Brasher as the celebrant.
Rite of Christian Burial will be at Maxwell Cemetery for those who would like to attend. Reception will follow at 1:30 pm at St. Patrick-St. Joseph Parish Hall. Flowers and or donations may be sent to Parish Hall.
Arrangements and celebration of love for Gilbert “Chico” Sisneros are under the direction of the Yaksich-Long Funeral Home of Raton.
