Elizabeth A. (Parker) Aragon, of Trinidad, CO, passed away unexpectedly April 28, 2019. She was born in Fort Polk, LA on August 17, 1946. She was the daughter of George and Mary Parker. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Northwestern State University of Louisiana, Natchitoches. In the summer of 1965 she first came to Colorado, met and married her life-long husband Claude B. Aragon.
In addition to taking care of her family of three children, Elizabeth began a successful career in real estate. She became active in Sacred Heart Catholic community in Farmington, NM as President of the Parrish Council as well as a member of the St. Anne’s Society. In 2001, Elizabeth retired as Owner/Broker of a successful real estate brokerage and she and Claude moved to Trinidad, CO.
Being ever civic-minded, Elizabeth became very active in her new home of Trinidad. After a successful election bid for Trinidad city council, Elizabeth served as council member as well as Mayor Pro Tem. Being still driven to serve her community, she held offices on the Trinidad Ambulance Board, 3rd District Crime Victim Compensation Board, Trinidad Planning and Zoning Commission, Purgatoire River Water Conservancy District and finally, most fulfilling and cherished, a member/officer of P.E.O. Chapter J until the time of her passing.
She leaves her beloved husband of 54 years, Claude; her son Jeff (Janine) of Divide, CO; daughter Keely (Brian) of Divide, CO; son J.C. (Dena) of Long Beach, CA. She leaves four adoring grandchildren: Alexandra, Parker, Lilli, and Ben. She is also survived by brother Ron Parker(Carolina) of Farmerville, LA as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and numerous close, personal friends.
In keeping with Elizabeth’s final requests, in lieu of funeral services, and to honor her passion for community service, we ask that all who wish to celebrate Elizabeth’s memory make a donation to P.E.O. Chapter J in her name, in care of: 937 Stonewall Ave. Trinidad, CO 81082.
