Grace Beard

Grace Beard peacefully passed from this life on April 23, 2019, at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be held at the Roy Community Center, Roy, New Mexico, Saturday April 27, at 3:00 p.m., Vondell Koontz officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Mills Cemetery, Mills, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Grace Beard was born to Earl Case and Opal Case (Burton) on November 27, 1927 near Mills, New Mexico. Grace attended Mills, New Mexico School through middle school and then transferred to Roy to complete high school as Mills consolidated where she graduated from Roy High School. Grace and her high school sweetheart Fred Beard married May 22, 1946. She attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico earning a bachelors degree and later a masters degree. Grace and Fred spent many years teaching and raising a family in New Mexico until they moved to Colorado where they continued their careers until retirement. Grace was the mother of five boys whom she enjoyed tremendously. She and her husband Fred spent many an adventure, camping and enjoying the outdoors. She loved to sew, cook, read and spend time with family. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Beard, brothers; Ervin Case, William (Bill) Case, Eugene Case, Howard Case and infant sister Pearl Case, father Earl Ruben Case and mother Opal Burton Case. She was also proceeded in death by sons, Weldon Beard and Melvin Beard and by great grandchildren Bella Pearl Beard and Casey Gail Everett.

3 SONS: John Beard and wife Leola of Mills, New Mexico, Floyd Beard and wife Valerie of Kim, Colorado and Donald Beard and wife Ilene of La Junta, Colorado.
2 DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW: Felecia Harvey and husband Leon of Roswell, New Mexico and Joyce Garman and husband Lee of Cedaredge, Colorado.
3 SISTERS-IN-LAW: Ann Beard of Grand Junction, Colorado, Ruby Wells of Fruita, Colorado, and Elaine Case of DeMoines, Washington.
12 GRANDCHILDREN: Ray Beard and wife Lisa of Berthod, Colorado, Mark Beard and wife Megan of Johnstown, Colorado, Melvin Beard and wife Shanda of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Connie Mautz and husband Larry of Manderson, Wyoming, Michael Beard of Granby, Colorado, Laneha Everett and husband Casey of Pritchett, Colorado, Justin Beard and wife Tamra of Aguilar, Colorado, Clint Freeburg and wife Stephanie of Berthod, Colorado, Jerilyn Reis and husband Nathan of Pueblo, Colorado, Mary Grace Gildenmeister and husband Keith of Hillsboro, Oregon, Matthew Beard of Rocky Ford, Colorado and Jessica Beard of Boulder, Colorado.
15 precious great grandchildren she adored.
