Cochiti Lake: George Torres of Stanley caught and released a 12-pound channel catfish, his personal best. He was fishing from a boat below Tetilla Peak and using cut bait.

Elephant Butte Lake: Brian Kelly of Rio Rancho caught a 40-inch striped bass with a 24-inch girth Mar. 23. He was fishing near Pirates Cove and using a 4-inch white grub on a football jig. Jeanette Medran of Silver City caught an 18-inch walleye, her first ever Mar. 24. She was using a swim bait.

Grindstone Reservoir: Harley Monroe Asbury, age 8, of Marana, Arizona and her grandpa caught a limit of trout Mar. 21. They were using salmon peach PowerBait.

Navajo Lake: Andrea Gallegos of Los Lunas caught and released a 20-inch trout Mar. 16. She was using a yellow spoon.

Ned Houk Ponds: Andre Garcia, age 10, of Clovis caught two rainbow trout on Mar. 23. He was using worms and PowerBait.

Roswell Kids Pond: Chevy Wyatt, age 11, of Roswell caught a 24-inch, 5-pound catfish Mar. 24. He was using hot links. Avery Knight, age 8, of Roswell caught a 3-pound catfish Mar. 24. He was using a hot dog.

Ute Lake: Trent Riley of Amarillo, TX caught and released a 5.88-pound smallmouth bass Mar. 25.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Helen Mia Frentzel, age 6, of Albuquerque caught an 18-inch rainbow trout Mar. 24. She was using a worm.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday morning was 10.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species. The boat ramp is closed due to low water conditions.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms, liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. Fishing was fair using Kastmasters, Johnson silver spoons, crank baits and swim jigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Costilla Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: The lake has opened to shoreline fishing but is still closed to boating. The south end of the lake and small sections of the north end remain iced over. Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Alice: The lake is completely free of ice, but we had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait for trout up to 17 inches. More shoreline was open and free of ice.

Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms and spoons for trout up to 18 inches.

Monastery Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam. Work is scheduled to be completed in June, but no firm opening date has been set.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 65.9 cfs. Fishing was fair using worms for trout.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 41.2 cfs. Fishing was good using worms, copper John Barrs, bead head hare’s ears and San Juan worms for trout.

Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 610 cfs. Flows are a bit high, but trout fishing in the Taos area was decent using BWO nymphs, copper John Barrs are poundmeisters. Dry fly action has picked up and is best on cloudy days. Size 16 dries worked best. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow near Valdez on Monday morning was 10.4 cfs. Fishing was fair using small bead head nymphs for trout.

Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 17.6 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Penasco was 31.6 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, worms, pheasant tail nymphs and Pistol Petes for trout. There is no boat dock in the water at this time.

Shuree Ponds: Closed for the season.

Springer Lake: Fishing was fair using crank baits and spinners for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.

Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: White bass fishing picked up for anglers working the Canadian arm of the lake. They caught several white bass and a few walleye while trolling medium running crank baits. A few more walleye were caught by anglers using jig and live minnow combinations. Fishing was fair using jigs and spinner baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using Kastmasters, blade baits and worms for a mixed bag of crappie and catfish. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the high 40s.

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was fair using minnows, grubs, crank baits and spoons for walleye. We had no reports on other species. The lake level continues to drop and launching boats has become very difficult.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 419 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: Trout fishing on the Albuquerque (South) and Peralta drains was fair using PowerBait, worms, small plastics and bead head pheasant tail nymphs. A few largemouth bass were caught by anglers using small plastics and worms. We had no reports on other species.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using spinners, swim baits and crank baits from the bank for tiger muskie. We had no reports on other species.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 300 cfs and 602 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was fair using bead head hare’s ears, egg patterns and worms. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.

Cochiti Lake: HOT SPOT FOR CATFISH: Fishing was excellent using cut bait, worms, homemade dough bait and liver for catfish. George Torres of Stanley was out again this past week and reported that he and Jeff Martinez of Albuquerque caught and released 46 channel catfish this past Saturday. They were using cut bait. Fishing for bass was slow but a few were caught by anglers using crank baits, jigs and spinnerbaits. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Fenton Lake: There was limited shoreline fishing access as of Monday, but trout anglers were doing well. They were using PowerBait and worms. For ice condition updates, call the state park office at (575) 829-3630.

Heron Lake: As of Monday, there was still ice on a good part of the lake and the boat ramp was closed. Some shoreline fishing access was available, but we had no reports from anglers. For updates, check the state park web site or call the state park office at (575) 588-7470.

Jackson Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 182 cfs and fishing was slow. We had no other stream reports.

Laguna del Campo: Closed for the season.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow to fair using spoons, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Manzano Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using jigs, crank baits and grubs for smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using swim baits, spinner baits, spoons and deep running crank baits for northern pike and an occasional trout. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 284 cfs and the water remains extremely murky. This is due to work being done on the release gate and flows are currently coming from the lower gate at the dam. Trout fishing was very slow.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms and leech patterns for trout.

Tingley Beach: Trout fishing was very good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, worms, Pistol Petes, Joe’s Flies, spoons and spinners. Trout fishing at the Catch and Release Pond was very good using olive leech patterns. We had no reports on other species.

Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alumni Pond: Fishing was slow for all species.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms and spinners for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair to good using cut bait, worms and homemade dough bait for catfish. Fishing for walleye was fair for anglers using live minnows and crank baits. We had no reports on other species.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was slow as far as numbers, but a variety of fish were caught including striped bass, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, crappie and walleye. Anglers using live minnows, 4-inch grubs, creature baits, jerk baits, crank baits and 4-inch white tubes all managed to pick up a few fish. The surface water temp ranged from the low to high 50s.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.

Sumner Lake: Fishing was fair using tubes, crank baits, jigs, swim baits and creature baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, swim baits, spoons and jig and minnow combinations for walleye. One angler reported good success fishing from the bank. He was fishing at the southwest corner and caught several walleye using a yellow and gold Mepps Spinner. We had no reports on other species.
