Maxwell Advances to Semis in Class A Boys NM State Basketball

The Maxwell Bears defense clamped down on the Tatum Coyotes and with the help of double-doubles from Kolton and Kayden  Riggs, pulled away for a 61 -33 win in the quarter final action on Wednesday, March 13th at Bernalillo High School.

Jeremy Archuleta,  played solid, steady ball throughout, as the only senior on the roster for Maxwell, played the entire 32 minutes, scoring 20 and helping to break the Coyotes press.

Kaden Riggs had 22 rebounds and scored 12, many on putbacks, while Kolton pulled down 15 boards and scored 20 to propel the Bears into the semi-finals on Thursday at 1:15 pm at the Santa Ana Star Center, KRTN will broadcast the game on FM 93.9.

Junior Wesley Jeffery had six for the Bears, but contributed defensively to the win as he was matched up with one of Tatum’s leading scorers and held him to only five points. Tatum’s ice-cold shooting of only 20% from the field and just over 10% from beyond the arc, also helped Maxwell’s cause.
