John Wesley “Wesso” Hanson, age 70, a resident of Roy, NM for the past 24 years and former resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019.
He was born to his parents John W. Hanson and Frances Sanchez on May 21, 1948 in Leveland, Texas.
He was a Catholic and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Roy, NM.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He graduated from Roy High School and received his Master’s Degree in Social Work at New Mexico Highlands University. He was an airplane and auto mechanic and enjoyed riding motorcycles and was in the Los Awows Motorcycle Club.
He is preceded in death by his father: John W. Hanson; brother: Leon Hanson; step-father: Alfred Sandoval.
He is survived by his wife: E. Precilla Gonzales-Hanson of the family home in Roy; son: Bobby Hanson (Karen) of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter: Leslie Hanson (Eric) of Pueblo, CO; step-sons: Michael Gonzales (Jessica) of CA and Mario Mendoza of Las Vegas, NM; step-daughter: Ana Trujillo (Heather) of Las Vegas, NM; mother: Frances Sandoval of Roy, NM; grandchildren: Adam Hanson (Audrey) and Mariah Mitchell (Austin); great-granddaughter: Willow Feryman); numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The rosary service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2019 at 9:30 am at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Roy, NM with the funeral service to follow with Fred Alexander S.O.L.T as Celebrant. Cremation to follow services and interment will be at a later date at the Roy Cemetery in Roy, NM. The following are serving as casket bearers: Epic Martinez, Joe Gomez, Bob Neville, Felix Gomez, Tony Barajas and George Martinez. Serving as honorary bearers are: Adam Hanson, Eric Salas, Juan Aguilar, Gerad Sanchez and Roger Martinez.
