The Lady Rams traveled up to Raton for a couple of games Monday evening and took home wins in both the JV and varsity games.
The JV game was a calamity of turnovers with Raton making 22 turnovers while Cimarron handed the ball over 15 times during the game. As the game started both teams started it out slow and it seemed that Raton couldn’t buy a basket coming out of the quarter with only four points. As the game wore on Raton managed to battle back and actually take the lead by the end of the third but couldn’t maintain.
As the fourth quarter took off Cimarron also took off outscoring Raton 20-9 to expand on their lead and take the win 41-32.
Cimarron 10 6 5 20 41
Kiaha Sandoval scored 27 points 5 of 6 free throws
Raton 4 10 9 9 32
In the varsity game Raton managed to keep things close the first quarter but a very aggressive Lady Ram defense kept forcing turnovers by stealing passes and making the scores on the turnovers. Cimarron also managed to hold Raton to less than 13 points in all four quarters. The refs let the girls play until the fourth quarter when they began calling things closer and had it not been for Baylor Walton Raton could hav suffered even more of a loss. Baylor went 10 of 15 free throws during the game with eight trips to the line in the fourth quarter alone.
As in the JV game the fourth quarter was the undoing for Raton as Cimarron outscored Raton 20-11 to take the 63-41 win.
