In Loving Memory of Brent Alan Kinlund

Brent Alan Kinlund was born May 3, 1952 to Arlyss and Mary Kinlund in Tribune, KS. He passed away January 4, 2019 in Denver, Colorado.

Brent was born and raised in Tribune, KS, and attended his school years at Greeley County High School graduating in 1970. He then went to Dodge City Community College. Following college , Brent was in the Army for 2 years from 1973-1975 stationed in Nerumberg, Germany.

In 1976 Brent began what would be his lifelong career with the railroad. He was first employed by the Rock Island Railroad in Goodland, KS. Then after a couple of years, Brent goth the opportunity to switch to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad out of Trinidad, Colorado. Brent often shared the story of being from western Kansas when he came to interview for the Trinidad job, and came over the pass for the first time, he knew that this is where he wanted to live forever, Raton, NM. Brent was a very kind, and loving soul.

Brent’s favorite hobbies were skiing, biking, hiking, airplanes, hot air balloons, railroad memorabilia, listening to rock and roll music, spending and enjoying time with family and friends.

Brent was blessed with one son, Alan Lee Kinlund, whom he adored. Brent and Alan were as close as any father and son could be sharing as much time together as they possibly could and just this last May his dream came true, a grandson, Adler Shaw.

Brent was united in Marriage with the love of his life, Judy Cagle on Feb. 17, 2007 at their home in Raton, NM. It was a marriage of deep love, their bond unbreakable.

Brent is survived by his wife, Judy of the home, son Alan, wife Sarah and Adler Shaw, of Clovis, NM, his mother Mary Kinlund, of Tribune, KS, brother Bracken and wife Cindy Kinlund of Greeley, CO, and children, sister Marlyss of Holcomb, KS and children, stepson, Jesse Cagle, of Garden City, KS, stepson Miles Cagle of Canon City, CO. He was preceded in death by his father Arlyss Kinlund and stepson Joey Cagle.

Brent never knew a stranger.
