With the exception of the JV boys Clayton takes three wins home Saturday as they soundly won both girls games and had a hard fight to pull out a win over the Raton varsity.

The Girls JV game saw Clayton take the early lead pull away quickly with a strong defense that kept Raton in single digits throughout the game for a final score of 64-15

The boys JV game saw a tight game with Raton taking the lead to finish out the first quarter. Clayton kept it close until the fourth quarter when they simply out scored Clayton and held them to only two points in the quarter for the 49-38 win.

The Girls varsity team suffered a big loss with their primary ball handler Andie Ortega out for the season with a shoulder injury. In conversation with Coach Michelle Boone she noted the girls have had some really good practices bu when they hit the court for a game things seem to go away. Clayton dominated the girl’s game taking an early and commanding lead and never looked back as they held Raton to only eight points the first half. The second half wasn’t much better and Clayton took home a convincing win 49-13.

The Raton varsity boys made Clayton earn their win as they took the lead while Clayton kept it close most of the game. It was tied at 14 at the end of the first with Raton ahead 29-26 at halftime. The third quarter kept things close but Clayton managed to take the lead and hold Raton at bay as bad pass after bad pass resulted in Clayton making the fast break and the easy lay-up for two. At the end of the game the Clayton lead 63-53 and took home the win.
