Ruth A. Calderon, Loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend went home to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, December 14, 2018 at the age of 97.
Ruth known to her family and friends as Mrs. C was born on April 6, 1921 in Brilliant, New Mexico to Ambrose and Concepcion Avila.
Mrs. C served with honor in the Women’s Army Air Corps during WWII for three years as a Staff Sergeant. During her service she received the American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Ribbon and WAAC Ribbon, along with many accolades and honors.
Mrs. C adored her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She was a member of The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion. Mrs. C was a church member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church (Bernalillo). She was also active in the Archdiocese of NM. Mrs. C owned Raphael’s Silver Cloud in Algodones for 30 years.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Narciso Calderon, and son, Raphael Calderon.
Mrs. C is survived by her loving daughters, Conchita M. (Larry) Sanchez and Carolyn Gallegos; son, Manuel (Viola) Avila; sister, Conchita San Roman; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
A Rosary will take place Friday, December 21, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 S. Camino Del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held at Larry and Chita’s residence following the Mass.
Inurnment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later time where Mrs. C will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Mrs. C will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
