In Loving Memory of Donald E. Billinger

Donald E. Billinger

On December 18, 2018, Donald Billinger (68) of Trinidad, Colorado, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer and went Home to the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 ½ years, Kathy; sons Shawn (Jacquie), Brad (Connie) and daughter Tonya; grandchildren: Cheyenne, Colten, Macey, Meah, Brian, Clara, Camron and great-grandson Jayden and sister’s Linda (Mike), Joyce (Henry) and Jeanette (Ernie). He is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Marie; sister Rosemarie; brother Leroy and brother-in-law Pappy.

Don was born and raised in Victoria, Kansas where he was surrounded by his sisters, brother and too many cousins to count. He was a boy scout and was able to travel the United States with his troop, even visiting the World’s Fair. Don was an altar boy at St. Fidelis Basilica. He faithfully served his country in the US Army Reserves where he reached the rank of Sergeant.

In 1970, Don met the love of his life, Kathy (Newland) to whom he married on July 17, 1971. Together they raised three children.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and bird watching. He could fix almost anything and loved to tinker in his garage. He was a rock to his family and loved to talk and tell stories. Don was loved by many and will be missed. His family takes solace in the fact that he is watching over them and they will see him again someday.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice who took such loving care of him. Donations can be mailed to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 1502 E. Main Street, Trinidad, CO, 81082.
