Lavaughn McDaniel, age 82, of Felt, Oklahoma, passed peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2018 in Amarillo, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Central Time on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Felt United Methodist Church in Felt, Oklahoma with Rev. Chuck Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Lavaughn McDaniel was born on August 4, 1936 in Felt, Oklahoma to Russell McDaniel amd Pattie Smith McDaniel. After graduating from Felt High School Lavauhgn attended Panhandle State A & M in Goodwill, Oklahoma where he played basketball. He also served numerous years in the New Mexico National Guard. While attending Panhandle State he met the love of his life, Otha Chockley whom he married on June 2, 1957 and they had two children; Mark and LaVonda. He worked at the refinery in Dumas, Texas before returning to farming and raising cattle at Felt. He later owned and ran Felt Repair and Machine and Mark Alan International. Lavaughn also served as a volunteer firefighter in Felt for many years and was an active member of the Felt United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Pattie McDaniel, a son; Mark McDaniel and a brother; Pat McDaniel.

SURVIVORS:

WIFE: Otha McDaniel of Beaver, Oklahoma.

1 DAUGHTER: LaVonda Snyder of Aztec, New Mexico.

3 GRANDCHILDREN: Lindsay Snyder, William Snyder and Lashae Snyder all of Aztec, New Mexico.

2 SISTERS: Kathleen Parsley of Dimmitt, Texas and Ruth Shields and her husband Sterling of Amistad, New Mexico.

5 BROTHERS: Neill McDaniel and his wife Judith of Denver, Colorado, Gary McDaniel and his wife Sarah of Canyon, Texas, Bruce McDaniel and his wife Connie of Felt, Oklahoma, Robert McDaniel and his wife Colleen of Goodwill, Oklahoma and Hal McDaniel of Canyon, Texas.

And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
