The family lived in Des Moines until 1954 when they moved to Albuquerque. There Willa had a career at Sandia Labs and enjoyed decorating cakes. In 1976, Hughie & Willa retired and moved to Folsom to be near Janet, her husband Bill Berg, and their three daughters. She moved to Logan, UT in 2006 where she was able to spend time with her great grandsons. In 2010 she made her final move to Pueblo.
In addition to her husband, Willa was preceded in death by her father and mother, her only sibling Elva and Elva’s husband Harold Horner.
Willa Lee is survived by her daughter Janet and son-in-law Bill, granddaughters Kirstin (Dane) Campbell, Elisabet Berg, and Meghan (Mike) Edwards. She dearly loved her two great grandsons Scott & Kyle Plagge.
Willa was especially close to her niece Larada Horner-Miller, Larada’s husband Lin Miller, and nephew Harold Virgil Horner.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Des Moines High School in her name. Willa liked the idea that 3 generations attended that school and she was an enthusiastic supporter of all her granddaughters’ activities during their attendance.
