Raton High School 2018 Wendy’s High School Heisman Award Winners
Ms. Estefani Martinez-Colin and Mr. Jose Archuleta of Raton High School were recently named School Winners for the prestigious Wendy’s High School Heisman Award which highlights exceptional high school seniors and their achievements in the classroom, on the field and in the community.
Estefani Martinez-Colin is the daughter of Maria Colin and Homero Martinez. She participates in Cheerleading, Tennis and Volleyball. She is also very active in school where she is in FCCLA and serves as the Chapter Secretary, RHS Student Senate and serves as the Senior Class Vice President, Youth Alive, and National Honor Society and serves as the Chapter Secretary. Estefani gives back to her community in a variety of ways and especially enjoys volunteering with MCMC Long Term, Elks Lodge Thrift Shops, Lip Sync, and the Raton High School Blood Drives.
Jose Archuleta is the son of Jose and Raquel Archuleta. He participates in basketball, tennis, golf and track. He is also a member of FCCLA and serves as Chapter President, RHS Student Senate and serves as Student Body President, National Honor Society, Youth Alive, and FCA. Jose gives back to his community by volunteering at Raton Visitor’s Center, Raton High School Blood Drives, the Gateway Music Festival, and Hope’s Senior Center to name a few.
“We are honored to have two of our students recognized as some of New Mexico’s top student-athletes.” said Lynette Simpson, Counselor at Raton High School.
For 24 years, Wendy’s, in partnership with the Heisman Memorial Trophy, has recognized outstanding students and rewarded their commitment and achievements to academics, athletics, and community on a national level.
