Catherine Darlene (Pettis) Walker, age 90, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018 in Clayton, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Joel Bugas as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Wheeless Cemetery in Wheeless, Oklahoma by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Catherine Darlene (Pettis) Walker was born on January 15, 1928, 12 miles west of Clayton to Charles “Charley” Pettis and Clara Agnes (Durbin) Pettis. She attended school in Clayton and graduate from Clayton High School. Darlene worked for Union County General Hospital for 25 years and then 18 and a half years part time at the Clayton Senior Citizens Center. She traveled extensively and loved to take pictures. Darlene married Gerald Leslie Walker on January 5, 1946 in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on July 8, 1975. In addition to her husband, Darlene was preceded in death by a son; Kent Walker in 1989, her father on July 21, 1949, mother on December 4, 1984, 4 sisters; Zelma Daves in 1967, Marcella Pettis and Bulah May Pettis both in 1929 and Genevieve Pettis in 1934, 2 brothers; Floyd Pettis in 1983 and Charles Pettis, Jr. in 1996, a daughter; Joann Trowbridge in 1996 and a daughter-in-law; Janet Walker in 2009.

SURVIVORS:

1 DAUGHTER: Cheryl Shalbot of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Jerry Walker and his wife Sherlyn and Billy Walker all of Boise City, Oklahoma.

7 GRANDCHILDREN: Tammy Swinburne, Justin Walker, Taryn Broaddus, Joni Bagwell, Leslie Amann, Shane Shalbot and Angela George.

13 Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be given in Darlene’s Memory to either St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 114 N. First St., Clayton, NM 88415 or to the Herzstein Memorial Museum, 22 S. Second St., Clayton, NM 88415
