In Loving Memory of Ercole D’Ercole Jr.

Ercole D’Ercole Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2018 at the Spanish Peaks VA Nursing Home in Walsenburg, CO.

Ercole was born in Segundo, Colorado on August 15, 1931 to Ercole D’Ercole Sr. and Clara Caporale. Ercole graduated from Primero High School in 1950 and served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Ercole was stationed in San Diego and upon discharge from the Navy he remained in San Diego attending San Diego State graduating with a degree in Business and Finance.

On October 18, 1958 Ercole married Mary Frances Bates in San Diego California at our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Ercole worked for many companies through the years from Mining to Construction until his retirement in the late 80’s as Director of Purchasing for Mount San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad Colorado.

Ercole loved to hunt and fish, gamble in Cripple Creek and Sandia with his wife as well as watching all sports especially the NY Yankees and Denver Broncos. Ercole had a green thumb and his yard was always blooming. His most favorite past time was spending time with his family, friends and grandchildren.

Ercole was a Devoted Husband, Loving Father, caring Papa and Friend. Ercole will be missed by so many who knew and loved him.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 52 years Mary Frances Bates, his parents Ercole “Shorty” and Clara D’Ercole, In-laws John and Stella Golda Bates, 7 sisters , 2 brothers, 4 sisters in law, 7 brothers in law as well as grandson Mark Visconti Jr. and great grandson Raylee Zane Ellis.

Survivors are children John and Helen D’Ercole, Asheville NC, Carrie and Zane Begano, Starkville CO, Ercole (Juanita) D’Ercole III, Trinidad, Jarrod D’Ercole and Roberta D’Ercole, Trinidad, CO. Grandchildren Michael, William (Desi) Anthony (Valentina), Sarah (Alex), Allison, Ashley, Juan (Deborah) Alicia (James) Amber(Oakley), and Brandee. 20 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday October 7, 2018 from 3pm until 7pm at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery with graveside services conducted by US Naval Honor Guard.

Active Pallbearers are Ercole D’Ercole III, Jarrod D’Ercole, Michael Morgan, William Morgan, Zane Begano, and Juan Trancoso.

Honarary Pallbearers are Frank(Linda) Modica, John(Dorothy) Modica, Debbie(Ron) Meler, Jim Sakariason, Marty Garcia, Cody Armstrong, Glenn Moltrer, Dean Moltrer and Raymond Moltrer.
