Raton hosted Tucumcari Thursday for their Volleyball Homecoming and started the match out with two wins before struggling in the next three games drop the match in five.
During game one of the match Raton played solid at the net with blocks and tips giving the ladies a chance to set things up for the spike over the net. Several times it was Ginger Baird, Kerrigan Weese or Jadyn Walton at the net for the block or spike over the net for the point.
Game two followed a similar pattern with the girls making the plays for the point and the win. The back line with Andie Ortega as Libero made the passes so Anna Acosta and Becca Muniz could set the ball for the tall girls. This worked well for Raton as they they finished out for the win.
In game three the tables turned and Raton struggled with getting the ball over the net as Lady Rattlers like Aaliyah Brown, Jasmine Jones and Felicity Lopez made the blocks at the net and the back ladies worked the passes to make the plays on Raton. Raton continued to struggle the remainder of the match with serves in the net as well as passes and spikes. Several of Raton’s points came from a few blocks at the net but most balls went over the blockers.
Raton JV took their match in two however in game one they had a 12-1 lead that somehow fell apart and became tied at 15 and again at 21 before Raton managed to put it away. Game two was a little closer but Raton got a rally going and took it with a five point spread.
C-Team Was another story as Coach Tina Dorrance just shook her head and said they weren’t pretty, as the ladies dropped both games to Tucumcari.
