The alarm went out shortly after 1:00 p.m Friday afternoon for a structure fire on the corner of State Street and Kearney Ave where firefighters from Raton Fire and Emergency Services and Colfax County Rapid Response found an unoccupied double wide trailer with flames coming out of the window of the residence.

Firefighters were on scene most of the afternoon doing mop up operations to make sure the fire was fully extinguished. The residence was unoccupied at the time of the fire and considered to be a total loss.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation.
