Cowles Ponds: Jaylynn Enjady, age 6, of Albuquerque caught her first fish using her Barbie rod Sept. 2. She was using a worm.

Eagle Nest Lake: Alizae Nieves, age 17, of Silver City caught a 16-inch rainbow trout Sept. 3. She was using salmon peach PowerBait.

Elephant Butte Lake: Estevan Chavez of Casa, Colo caught and released a 4.5-pound largemouth bass Sept. 1. He was using a chatterbait. 

Fenton Lake: Jesse Cordova, age 5, of Rio Rancho caught four rainbow trout Sept. 3. He was using PowerBait and salmon eggs. Noelle Morgan, age 8, of Albuquerque caught her first fish, a 10-inch rainbow trout Sept. 4. She was using PowerBait.

Monastery Lake: Joaquin Reza, age 3, of Santa Fe caught his first fish, an 11-inch rainbow trout Sept. 2. He was using PowerBait.

Pecos River: Ivan Eylicio of Los Lunas caught a 22-inch trout Aug. 26. He was using a copper John Barr.

Rio Grande: George Torres of Stanley caught and released a 29.5-inch, 31-pound, 11-ounce flathead catfish Sept. 8. He was fishing at night and using cut carp bait.

Roswell Kids Pond: Chevy Wyatt, age 10, of Roswell caught a 14-inch and a 16-inch catfish Sept. 9. He was using stink bait and chicken liver.

San Juan River: Owen Jacobson, age 14, of Albuquerque caught and released a 26-inch brown trout Sept. 9. He was using a red larva. 

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Gabbon Bailey, age 10, of Rio Rancho caught an 18-inch rainbow trout Sept. 8. He was using worms. Caiden Tafoya, age 11, of Albuquerque caught an 18-inch rainbow trout Sept. 9. He was using salmon eggs. Lucas Guerrero, age 3, of Albuquerque caught an 18-inch rainbow trout Sept. 2. It was his first fish and he was using salmon eggs.

Sumner Lake: Steven Cain of Portales caught a 15-pound channel catfish Sept. 9. He was using cut bait.

Ute Lake: Jacob Barela age 16 of Albuquerque caught and released a 5-pound smallmouth bass Sept. 8. He was using a jig with a brush hog trailer.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was fair using Pistol Petes, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near the town of Cimarron on Monday morning was 9.42 cfs. Fishing was good using stimulators, San Juan worms, stone fly nymphs and worms for trout. Trout fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was fair using PowerBait, worms and salmon eggs for trout. Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver and worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Fishing pressure was very light.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was good using creature baits, swim jigs, ned rigs, wacky worms, chatter baits, crank baits and tubes for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Most of the bass again this past week were small. Fishing was good using shrimp, cut bait and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using slab spoons and blade baits for white bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the low to mid 70s.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow on Monday morning below Costilla Dam was 39.6 cfs. Fishing was good using ant patterns, hoppers, caddis and parachute adams for trout.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, terrestrials and small spinners for trout.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and worms for perch. Fishing was fair to good trolling Panther Martins, Super Dupers, wedding rings and Platte River specials tipped with PowerBait or corn for rainbow trout and kokanee. Fishing for northern pike was slow with just a few hooked by anglers using spoons, PowerBait and Platte River specials. The surface water temp was around 65 degrees. Angel Amador reported catching an 18-inch rainbow while fishing from the bank. He was using a Red River Special under a bubble.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, Panther Martins, wooly buggers, copper John Barrs, mop flies and Pistol Petes for trout.

Fawn Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout.

Gallinas River: Fishing was good using worms, salmon eggs and bead-head nymphs for trout.

Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using PowerBait, worms, wooly buggers, small spoons and Panther Martins for trout.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was good using mop flies, prince nymphs, worms and salmon eggs for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms, small spoons and Panther Martins for trout.

Morphy Lake: Work has begun on the dam and the lake will remain closed through the end of the year.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 53.7 cfs. Fishing was good using copper John Barrs, elk hair caddis, Panther Martins, salmon eggs and night crawlers for trout. Aarron Vallez of Albuquerque caught his first fish this past week, a 17.5-inch rainbow. He was using salmon eggs. Fishing was fair to good using night crawlers for catfish.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 35.5 cfs. Trout fishing was good using mop flies, worms, salmon eggs and PowerBait.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 163 cfs. Trout fishing in this area was a bit sporadic as the water color changed from clear to stained with the rains. On the good days, anglers did well using copper John Barrs, beetles, ants, poundmeisters, Panther Martins and night crawlers. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 7.60 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: Stream flow near Terrero on Monday morning was 31.0 cfs. Fishing was good using night crawlers and Fire Balls for trout.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 12.6 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Shuree Ponds: Fishing was good using terrestrials and Pistol Petes under a bubble for trout.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake: Fishing continued slow for all species. Fishing pressure was very light.

Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was fair to good using spinner baits and chatter baits for largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR CATFISH: Fishing was very good using shrimp, night crawlers, punch bait and chicken livers. Anglers did very well with rod and reel and with trot lines. Fishing for white bass was fair to good using spoons and crank baits. Fishing was fair to good using drop shot rigs, jigs, brush hogs, swim baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species. The surface water temp was in the mid 70s.

Abiquiu Lake: The lake level continues to drop, and anglers should use extreme caution when launching boats. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended for launching. Much safer launching would be with canoes or kayaks. Fishing was fair using ned rigs, chatter baits, senkos, tubes, spinner baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 68.6 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was fair using large spoons and swim baits for tiger muskie. We had no reports on other species.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: Trout fishing was good using Fire Balls, PowerBait, worms, Pistol Petes and spinners. Fishing pressure was heavy.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 597 cfs and 423 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was good using night crawlers, chamois leeches and zebra midges for brown and rainbow trout. A few largemouth bass and perch were caught by anglers using worms. Fishing below Abiquiu was slow but a few trout were caught by anglers using wooly buggers and worms.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow to fair to good using crank baits, spoons and spinners for white bass. Fishing was fair using shrimp, chicken liver and cut bait for catfish. Fishing was fair using spoons, ned rigs, chatter baits and senkos for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was fair using yellow small midge patterns, elk hair caddis, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. The best reports came from anglers using flies.

Heron Lake: The water level continued to drop this past week and the boat docks have been pulled. Anglers may still launch small vessels such as kayaks and canoes. We had no reports from anglers.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 15.5 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez and the East Fork was good using worms, mop flies, hoppers, caddis and salmon eggs. Fishing on the upper and lower Cebolla was good for anglers using mop flies, copper John Barrs, salmon eggs and worms. They reported catching mixed bags of brown and rainbow trout. All the brown trout were released. Fishing on the San Antonio was good using Fire Balls and worms for trout.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and Pistol Petes under a bubble for trout.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Manzano Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using buzz baits, crank baits, chatter baits and swim baits for northern pike. Fishing was good using ned rigs, creature baits, chatter baits, senkos, swim jigs, crank baits and drop shot rigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using worms and curly tail grubs for perch. Fishing was good trolling spinners tipped with PowerBait or corn for kokanee at 55 to 80 feet for kokanee. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake was reduced on Monday afternoon to 723 cfs. Fishing was very good using parachute Adams, WD40s, red annelids, ants, PMXs, RS2s and zebra midges for brown and rainbow trout. Through the bait waters, fishing was good using jerk baits, Panther Martins, hoppers, copper John Barrs, worms and salmon eggs.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.

Tingley Beach: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, homemade dough baits, shrimp and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Trout Lakes: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

Alto Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and worms for trout. Fishing fair using liver and worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bataan Lake: Fishing was fair using hot dogs, shrimp, worms and liver for catfish.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 6.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout. A few catfish were caught by anglers using worms, PowerBait and hot dogs.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.

Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was fair using chicken liver bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was fair to good using curly tail grubs, crank baits, swim baits and chatter baits for largemouth bass and white bass. A few largemouth bass were also caught by anglers using top water lures. We had no reports on other species.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using, shrimp, chicken liver and homemade dough bait for catfish.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.

Eunice Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was good using liver and hot dogs for catfish.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was fair using chicken liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was fair to good using salmon eggs and PowerBait for trout.

Jal Lake: Fishing was fair using worms and hot dogs for catfish.

Lake Van: Fishing was good using hot dogs, homemade dough bait, Charlie’s blood bait and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms and homemade dough bait for catfish.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was .25 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Perch Lake: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, liver and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 5.82 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, chatter baits, swim baits, spinner baits, jigs, senkos and tubes for largemouth and smallmouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, tubes, curly tail grubs, wacky worms and swim baits for walleye. We had no reports on other species.

Sumner Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using cut bait and chicken liver for catfish. A few largemouth bass and smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using crank baits, spinner baits and ned rigs. We had no other reports.
